When You Make the Rules…

You see a lot of people on the left waving this around, but the minute you look at it objectively, the whole thing falls apart.  Supposedly, America has dropped to the 8th “best” country and it’s all Trump’s fault.  Never mind that under Obama, it fell from 4th to 7th place, that’s not important, this is just one more reason for the liberal lunatics to scream about Trump!

But the whole survey is pointless to begin with.  What are the criteria?  Purely liberal taking points of course!  So let’s take a look and see why this whole thing means nothing when it’s the left making the rules.

If you ask a liberal why we’re so low, and this is out of 197 countries mind you, they will spit out things like universal health care and minimum wages.  In other words, liberal talking points.  The whole survey is just that, a survey, personal opinions by a reported 21,000 people world wide.  But is subjective opinion a worthwhile way to determine who is best?  I think not.  Let’s look at some of these points.

Adventure.  So the hell what?  I mean honestly, the U.S. has one of the top tourism industries on the planet, more people want to come here (and honestly, stay here illegally far too often) than pretty much anywhere else.  Pointless category.

Citizenship.  I find it funny how they define this.  “Cares about human rights, cares about the environment, gender equality, progressive, religious freedom, respects property rights, trustworthy, well-distributed political power.”  In other words, the whole of the liberal playbook.  Sorry, liberalism sucks.  That invalidates the whole survey right there.

Cultural Influence.  Considering the whole world wants to be like us, I find it hard to believe that we didn’t get this one.

Entrepreneurship.  Now I’ll be the first one to agree that this is a major problem.  We need to stop sending jobs overseas. Still, the vast majority of new technologies come from America.  I’m sure a lot of it comes from even more liberal buzzwords in the description like “well-developed legal framework”.  Define that for me.  Oh, you mean liberal?  Joy!

Heritage.  Sure, tell me how many “cultural attractions” Sweden has?  Bias, bias, bias.

Movers. The definition of this is “different, distinctive, dynamic, unique”.  What does that even mean?  If you mean movers and shakers, we’ve got that won too.  How many people tune in to talks by non-American CEOs?  Not that many.

Open for Business. The definition here is “bureaucratic, cheap manufacturing costs, corrupt, favorable tax environment, transparent government practices”.  In other words, it’s built to favor third world countries where you can live on a dime.

Power.  The U.S. is #1.  Nobody can even come close.  Politically, militarily and financially, we are the top of the heap. I’m sure this counted against us.

Quality of Life.  Again, filled to the brim with liberal buzzwords.  “A good job market, affordable, economically stable, family friendly, income equality, politically stable, safe, well-developed public education system, well-developed public health system”. The job market here is fine, it’s certainly better than under Obama.  It’s affordable for people who work hard, again, this isn’t liberal-land and we don’t want it to be.  Then you start putting things in like “income equality” which is pure liberal lunacy, “safe”, which we certainly are, but they still mention gun deaths in the description and “well-developed public health system” meaning socialized medicine.  These people are blatant socialists, which gets absolutely no respect from me whatsoever.

Whether these liberal idiots like it or not, this is the country everyone wants to come to.  This is the country most people want to live in.  But because we’re not some leftist utopia, they still hate us because hating success without their socialist methodology is very, very wrong as far as they’re concerned.  And when you make the rules for the survey, you can get the survey to say whatever you want.  The actual, demonstrable results tell a different story though.  That’s all that really matters.

Are There “Leftist” Ideas That Are Worthwhile?

I find a lot of weird things over on Minds.  First, I found an article that was criticizing the ideas they found in a YouTube video, made by a friend as I understand it, so I read the article and watched the video and hey, might as well take this on.  The original video was entitled “Which ideas from the left are worth taking on board?”  I’ll link to the video below.  So as I said, I watched it and disagreed with a lot of what was said, but I also disagreed with some of the things that the Minds article writer said, so as usual, I’ll just piss everyone off.  So let’s look at the four points and see where I stand on all of them.

1. Ideology.

This one is questionable because I really don’t agree that “ideology” is valuable in any meaningful way.  Your ideology is only important to me insofar as it corresponds to objectively demonstrable reality.  If it doesn’t, your ideology, like your religion, is idiotic and I couldn’t care less about it.  And this is really where we have problems on both the political left and the political right because I’ve found that the farther you go to the extremes, the less realistic these viewpoints are, the more emotionally-biased and irrationally-dogmatic they tend to be.  When your beliefs become irrational, your position becomes untenable as far as I’m concerned.  I don’t care how you feel, I care what you can prove.  And here, I agree with the article writer who defines ideologies as “an intellectual system of ideas or rigid abstract formulas mixed with scientific jargon and some empirical facts that claims knowledge about reaching perfection in the temporal order.”  I think a lot of that goes too far, as most ideologies I see are just emotional positions, based on wishful thinking, and accepted over demonstrable fact.  That’s where so many ideologies simply go wrong.  Always have, always will.

2. Gender Identity is a Social Construct

Now here, I think the video-maker is an idiot.  Gender identity is not a social construct, any more than species-identity is. Some furries might disagree with me but I think they’re emotional imbeciles too.  You cannot change reality because reality makes you feel bad.  It doesn’t work that way.  You are born male or female, or on extremely rare instances, both.  The last category is most often surgically corrected just after birth.  But your genes determine what you are.  They might not determine how you feel, but fuck how you feel.  Your emotions don’t determine reality.  I couldn’t care less about your emotional state.  Come to grips with reality and stop pretending that deciding to be male on odd-number days and female on even-number days is even an option.  It is not.  Time for a lot of people to grow the hell up.

3.  Homosexuality is fine and so is gay marriage

That’s two things I completely agree with.  First off, whether homosexuality is “fine” or not is irrelevant.  Homosexuals exist.  Welcome to the real world. Therefore, it doesn’t matter if  you like that gay people exist, they still exist, they have always existed and will always exist.  Time to grow up and deal with the real world.  Because they exist, what difference does it make if we let them voluntarily engage in legal marriage?  How does it demonstrably harm anyone if they do?  And no, I don’t mean your emotional discomfort which come from your delusional beliefs, I mean where is the objectively verifiable evidence that gay people being married produces any harm to anyone?  Because if such evidence exists, I certainly haven’t seen it and nobody on the anti-gay side has even tried to produce it.  I must therefore assume it simply doesn’t exist.  But our article-writer insists that somehow, being gay is wrong, again with no evidence and that equality across the board is somehow wrong, with nothing to back it up.  And honestly, I don’t  care if we can prove the existence of a gay gene or not.  What difference does it make?  People who identify as gay, whether they can prove it or not, have the same rights as everyone else, right?  So if a non-gay person can choose to marry some of the opposite gender, why can a gay person not choose to marry someone of the same gender?  Where is the demonstrable harm?  It isn’t like they’re trying to force the religiously delusional to marry them, I would oppose that, even though I think the religiously delusional are idiots.  But we’re talking about secular marriage.  I guess some people just want to feel special.  I think they’re idiots.

4. Abortion is fine

This is one I don’t get at all and recently, I’ve been asking a lot of right-wingers why this is a problem.  Give me one non-religious, non-emotional reason why abortion is a problem.  Go ahead.  But none of them can produce anything.  It’s always an emotional answer because they have nothing else.  Now I’d personally prefer, as a conservative, if people didn’t choose abortion, if they were responsible before pregnancy and thereafter dealt with the consequences of their actions.  That would be the way to go in a perfect world, but we all know this isn’t a perfect world and people are, unfortunately, irresponsible.  To be perfectly honest, most of the people who would have an abortion are probably not people who I would want to be parents in the first place.  We’re better off without having the irrational and irresponsible breed.  Therefore, I’m fine with abortion because I don’t think humans are magical or special or anything like that.  But the guy who wrote the article sure seems to.  He thinks humanity is sacred.  I think he’s nuts.  And before anyone suggests adoption, we have thousands and thousands of kids just in the U.S. alone that will never be adopted.  The idea of throwing hundreds of thousands of unwanted children into the mix is not only insane but utterly reprehensible.  I’d much rather have them never exist at all than exist in a life of suffering and unhappiness.  But then again, I don’t think human life is special.  I’m not religiously or emotionally delusional.  Some people unfortunately seem to be.

In the end, I think all of these ideas are neutral, it only matters how you define things and how those things correspond with reality.  As I said, the farther to the extremes you get, the less anything they hold to be true can be defended intellectually or objectively.  They get more and more delusional and less and less able to recognize the inherent delusions in their midst.  Are there good “leftist” ideas?  I don’t know.  Most of the positions that I agree with that are typically on the left, I agree with them for entirely conservative reasons.  No emotion required.  It’s every bit as important to have good reasons to support an idea than it is to have an idea to support in the first place.  I find that I emphatically disagree with the reasons most liberals hold their positions, even if their positions are defensible in other ways.  But I feel the same way about the far right because their ideals aren’t held rationally either, even if they can be defended intellectually.  So people like me, we’re just screwed in the end. Everyone hates us because we reject the emotional and expect people to be intelligent.  Too bad that so rarely happens.

You Have no Right to my Labor!

I hear this all the time from libertarians, especially recently when the whole gay-wedding-baker case came back to the forefront.  Libertarians will scream that nobody has the right to their labor, therefore they ought to be able to discriminate against anyone they want, for whatever reason they want, and nobody ought to be able to do anything about it.

Except that’s not how it works.  Nobody is making them a slave.  They VOLUNTEERED their labor when they opened their business, when they accepted a license for their business, when they tacitly agreed to follow the applicable laws of the land as a consequence of opening a public accommodation business.  Nobody is demanding their labor, they voluntarily offered it!  People are just taking them up on their offer.

Of course, when you point this out, most libertarians will shut up and slink back into the shadows because they have no rational counter for it. The few insane ones will demand that they never agreed to anything and they aren’t bound by the laws of society and they can change their minds any time, but that’s not how it works and I don’t think anyone intelligent falls for that kind of wing nut libertarianism in the first place.

The fact remains that society has every right to pass whatever laws they like and think are valid and that you, as a consequence of your presence within said society, are obligated to follow the laws that society has passed, or go find another society in which you can do so.  I don’t care if you like it, it is simply the case and has been in every operable society in the history of mankind.  There has never been a case where people could do whatever they wanted with no consequences, period.  Just because you want to doesn’t mean you get to.  Get over yourself.

Of course, this doesn’t silence the fanatics because, as with the religious, they just don’t care if what they believe is true, so long as it gives them an emotional woody.  They are people who simply do not comprehend humanity or human society.  They want things they are not entitled to and refuse to acknowledge that they are on the wrong side of… everything.  Because they don’t care.  And that’s anti-intellectual idiocy.

Entitlement Idiots Ramble On

The far left has no clue what responsibility is.  This is nothing new, of course, we’ve seen all kinds of demands from the far left to forgive all of their debts, to give them all manner of free stuff, just because they don’t want to pay for it.  But now, even if they get it for free, these entitlement happy morons, they don’t want to take responsibility for their own failures.

Students at Oberlin College are now demanding that the college eliminate any grades that fall below a C for the semester.  Because apparently, earning good grades is just too much of an expectation, so now everyone deserves to get them, no matter how badly they do in their classes.

But why are they failing their classes?  Because these special snowflake are so busy protesting absolutely everything under the sun, they have no time to actually go to classes, much less study or have the slightest clue what degree they’re supposed to be going for.

“A lot of us worked alongside community members in Cleveland who were protesting,” said Megan Bautista, a co-liaison in Oberlin’s student government. “But we needed to organize on campus as well — it wasn’t sustainable to keep driving 40 minutes away. A lot of us started suffering academically.”  Well sure, because you were doing everything except what you were supposed to be doing!  Come on,  you’re supposed to be adults!  That means you have to have some priorities and if you choose not to go to class, not to learn what you’re supposed to learn, then you’re going to fail.

But the far left doesn’t want any responsibility.  “You know, we’re paying for a service. We’re paying for our attendance here. We need to be able to get what we need in a way that we can actually consume it, student Zakiya Acey said. “Because I’m dealing with having been arrested on campus, or having to deal with the things that my family are going through because of larger systems — having to deal with all of that, I can’t produce the work that they want me to do. But I understand the material, and I can give it to you in different ways.”  Well maybe you ought to get a better set of priorities and not get arrested or any of that other nonsense!

And sure, paying for a service.  That’s why they follow the idiotic Bernie Sanders school of “give us free college!”  They don’t want to have to pay for anything and they don’t want to have to earn anything, they want to do what they want to do with no ramifications and everyone else better cough it up or else!  So no more bad grades, no matter how well deserved.  School gets in the way of protesting, but they need those feminist studies degrees so they can pretend they tried, even if nobody will hire them because they all have criminal records by the time they get out of college.

The world is going straight to hell and the regressive left is leading the way.  Is it any wonder the future is so dim?

Do White Men Only Find White Women Attractive?

That’s the assertion of yet another self-identified liberal who says that there aren’t a lot of black women on television because white men don’t find black women attractive, because we’re all racist.  And tons and tons of people broke down laughing at this sad sack because clearly, that’s just not the case.  Even among self-identified conservatives, the vast majority could come up with at least some black women they identified as physically attractive.  I guess the regressive left loses again.

But it was an interesting topic so I thought I’d revisit it again here.  It got me thinking about actresses on TV that I thought were cute and the more that I thought about it, there are quite a few non-white actresses that I think look great, just on modern TV alone.  So here’s my list, in alphabetical order by show name and it could be a long longer if I spent more time thinking about it.  I guess the absurdly racist liberal left haven’t got the slightest idea what they’re talking about.

There’s a really good new show on Canadian TV called Frankie Drake Mysteries, set in the 1920s about a female detective.  Her partner, Trudy Clarke, played by Chantel Riley, is really cute.  The character itself is bright, creative and talented (Riley is has a beautiful singing voice that I could listen to for hours).  Honestly, of everyone on the show, if I was going to be shallow and only pay attention to looks, she’s probably the best.

Moving back to American shows with The Flash.  Candice Patton who plays Iris West is very attractive as well.  Again, another strong female character who is intelligent, brave and creative in her own right without having to rely on a man, although let’s be honest, Flash does have to save her (and everyone else) a lot.  I’ve met her in person and, while I didn’t spend a lot of time with her, she was really nice for the limited amount of time that we’ve spent together.

On to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow which has two gorgeous black women right now.  Masie Richarson-Sellers plays Amaya/Vixen and Tracy Ifeachor plays Kuasa, her granddaughter.  Again, it’s not just looks they have going for them, their characters are strong, independent, self-reliant and smart.  They aren’t damsels in distress that exist to be taken care of, they can kick all of the asses and take all of the names and outperform a lot of the male members of the cast in physical and mental prowess.  I don’t know, maybe you’re seeing a pattern here.

Getting back to Canada, Murdoch Mysteries had, until last season, a gorgeous black woman working as assistant coroner and I’m really sorry that she’s gone.  Mouna Traore was Dr. Rebecca James. Of course, they had to portray her as a black woman struggling in a white world, but she was one of the strongest characters, male or female on the show.  Great actress.

Jumping to a show that’s no longer on the air, but Sleepy Hollow had two really beautiful black women on it, sisters Abbie and Jenny Mills, played respectively by Nicole Beharie and Lyndie Greenwood.  Both of them are really good looking in my opinion.  They’re also both excellent actresses.

Now I could probably do the same thing for other actresses of any racial group you could mention, but I think that’s plenty for the moment.  I mean, Jade Eshete over on Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is cute, if she’d only do something about that hair.  Of course, I’m not actually interested in any of them, even if I met them in person, because I’m happily married, but the idea that white people think black women are ugly is just absurd.  Even conservative white men who aren’t racists can find beauty in women of any color.  We don’t care.  It doesn’t matter to us.  It’s just that the regressive left are so busy playing the race card that they’ve given up even pretending that what they say is factually correct or not.  It just doesn’t matter.  But that’s not our problem, it’s theirs and it’s pathetic.

And the Extremists Can’t Figure it Out…

So not too long ago over on Gab, racist asshole Andrew Anglin had a tasteless post up that the registry of Gab took exception to and ordered taken down or they would take down Gab entirely.  And that started a shitstorm of epic proportions that probably rages on to this day.  Nobody cares that it was a matter of survival that it got removed, companies need to go out of business because “free speech!”

Then, BitChute decided to take down another alt-right racist video called “Kill the Kikes! Race War Now!”  Yeah, let’s think about that for a moment.  And of course, the shitstorm just moved elsewhere with everyone screaming that they have a right to free speech with no consequences!

These people are just idiots.  But worse, they’re idiots that can’t figure out why they have so many problems.  They just think they’re right and everyone else is wrong, which is why I’ve largely stopped engaging with them because, like the religious, they are incapable of holding an intellectual discussion about their fanatical beliefs.  It led me to make a video over on YouTube about free speech needing to be responsible speech, but nobody on the fringes, either left or right, is ever going to agree with me there.  It’s really why I’ve stopped caring all that much what goes on over on Gab, because rational people have pretty much given up the ghost.

Now I am an advocate of free speech, I think people ought to be able to say whatever they want to say, but as they say, actions have consequences and none of these people want any consequences at all for their actions.  They want to run around insulting people and suffer no repercussions because “muh free speech!” And I’m sorry but it doesn’t work that way. There has to be some base expectations below which people are not permitted to go.  You have to expect that people will operate relatively maturely and not sink to just calling each other every name in the book.  Yet that’s where Anglin and his cronies want to go, although I will admit that Anglin himself isn’t often as reprehensible as many others on his side, but they have to understand that actions have consequences and they simply refuse to do that.  And when you’re on someone else’s platform and doing things that could conceivably destroy not only their reputation but their entire livelihood, you have no basis whatsoever for demanding that they put up with your shenanigans.  None at all.  Yet that’s exactly what these idiots want.

I really hate humanity anymore.

More Abject Liberal Stupidity

I can’t possibly make this stuff up.  So anyhow, there’s a discussion going on about Trump supporting women and of course, the liberals are all up in arms because Trump is literally Hitler or some crazy crap like that.  So one of these special little snowflakes pops up and says “If he really did he would support equal pay for equal work for women.”

So, facepalming all the way, I posted “It already exists and has for more than 50 years. Have you honestly never heard of the 1963 Equal Pay Act?”  And she comes back with:

I just about fell out of my chair.  Here’s this special feminist snowflake who has never even heard of the 1963 Equal Pay Act.  Well of course not, she’s completely ignorant of history and reality, she only pays attention to the feminist echo chamber, where other ignorant snowflakes know no more about anything than she does.

But this is really typical of the childish regressive left.  They have no clue what’s actually going on in the world, they refuse to venture outside of their Tumblr and Twitter safe spaces and picking up a history book to find out what’s actually happened in the past?  Heresy!  Why bother when they can just rail on about all of the crazy things their side has to say! And you wonder why I rarely manage to have productive conversations with these people, because they’re incapable of understanding anything that doesn’t come from women’s studies courses or feminist authors.

And they don’t care either!  This conversation continued for a couple of exchanges and she refused to admit she was wrong. Because all of those feminist “scholars” couldn’t have been lying to her all this time, no!  That’s impossible!  Therefore, history has to be wrong!  The data has to be wrong!  Reality has to be wrong!  There’s no other explanation.  And then she just stopped responding because things weren’t going her way.

But you know, what else is new?

Racist Trolls are Really Bad at it!

Trolling:  to make a deliberately offensive or provocative online post with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them.  And if that’s the definition of the word, there are a lot of really blatantly obvious trolls online that are really, really awful at it. It’s like they don’t even know what they’re supposed to be doing.

I’ve come to the conclusion that a huge number of the most offensive racist posters over on Gab are, in fact, trolls.  Whether they actually hold any racist views of their own, it’s clear that these are just children who are trying to piss people off and doing a terrible job at it.  They’re not upsetting anyone, they’re just making themselves look like complete morons in the guise of being “edgy”.

They’re not even entertaining.  I’m not sure who they are trying to piss off because they seem so utterly unfocused.  If they’re trying to piss off the alt-left, which I guess could be interesting, they’re on the completely wrong forums to do it.  Are they going after the alt-right?  Seems like a pointless gesture because they’re saying things that most wouldn’t be offended by, and in fact would probably agree with.  So is it the rest of us, the centrist majority who hates both the far left and far right?  They’re still just a bunch of laughable buffoons who are so absurdly obviously trolling that nobody takes them seriously, yet they exist by the ton and take the bait with nary a moment’s hesitation.  It’s hard to believe anyone is this dumb, but they are!

But that seems to be the new norm online these days, kids pretending that pissing people off is fun, but only if they do it anonymously so they don’t get popped in the mouth.  Unfortunately, they’re not even good at it and they quickly get added to everyone’s ignore list so their idiocy is no longer seen.  Not that I’m complaining, I have a very low tolerance for stupidity these days as it is, but I really don’t understand why they’d think this is a worthwhile way to spend their time.  Then again, I’m sure I’m a lot more intellectual than these low-brows who would probably find kicking cripppled kids to be hilarious.  I weep for the future of mankind, really I do.

Is a Censorship-Free Internet Registrar Worthwhile?

The newest thing on free-speech social media sites like Gab and Minds is the call for a free speech Internet registrar that cannot be censored, as though this will solve all of the problems that the far left monopolistic giants like Google are causing.

I hold that it will do absolutely nothing because these people have no idea how the Internet actually works.  These people are living in a fantasy world.

The problem is, even if you can get your domain registered, that doesn’t guarantee that anyone will ever know you’re there.  And this all comes from the brouhaha caused with the Daily Stormer and the problem that Gab.ai’s registrar caused for Daily Stormer owner Andrew Anglin.  But the reality is that even if you have a domain registered, the Internet is set up in such a way that the very existence of your web site can be quashed and there’s nothing at all you can do about it.

See, there are these little things called DNS servers, which most major ISPs maintain, but there are plenty of independent ones out there.  They’re the ones that, when you type in website.com, they translate that to the actual IP address that is required to get to your site.  Website.com has no meaning whatsoever to the computers that actually route your web browser request without various DNS servers telling them where the heck website.com actually is.  Even if you have a domain, if whoever owns those servers decides to strip away the actual IP address from them, then your site will forever be unfindable.

Seriously, that’s all the dark web is, a series of servers that are not indexed by normal DNS servers. It isn’t some bizarre magic, it’s just servers that you can’t get to unless you know the technical tricks to do  so.

And if you don’t think that the first thing Google and most other search engines would do if Daily Stormer came back online is remove them from search results, you’re nuts.  Just having a domain name doesn’t mean that anyone will direct traffic to you.  If Google shuts down search results and all of the major DNS servers delist your site, you’re dead in the water, except to those very few who have the technical know-how to get there anyhow.

I’m not saying I agree with this, I’m saying this is the state of reality that we live in any anyone who wants to circumvent that reality has to understand.  Go ahead, create your own free speech DNS servers. Most people neither know how to change their DNS settings in their computers, nor care.  They rely on what their ISP set up for them.  They don’t know any better and have no interest in learning. They aren’t going to go to DuckDuckGo for their search engine when Google produces better results. The only way to change things is to demolish the entire Internet as it currently stands and rebuild it from scratch and I hate to break it to you, but that’s just not going to happen any time soon.

Besides, what do you do about countries like China and Pakistan who have a vested interest in censoring the Internet?  How do you convince them to adopt free-speech regulations when they have no interest in doing so?  It’s like people haven’t thought these things through because when I point out all of the problems, I get no response.  They just want to live in their own little fantasy world that somehow, they’ll be able to get their message out far and wide and nobody will be able to stop them.

Not on this planet buddy.

I Hate Trolling But I’ll Make an Exception…

In general, I hate trolls and I hate trolling, I virtually never engage in it, but this time I’m going to make an exception for the good of humanity.  I’ve been hanging out on Gab, the alt-right cesspool, and sniping at the racist assholes.  I’m doing so specifically so that they’ll open their fool mouths and show the rest of Gab what a bunch of pathetic losers they are.

And it works wonderfully because they apparently don’t know when to leave well enough alone.  I’m perfectly fine with that because I want them exposed as the immature, irrational shit stains that they are.  I don’t even have to do any work, they do it all themselves.  I just have to start the ball rolling.

It isn’t like it’s possible to debate with these people rationally because they are not rational.  They are every bit as crazy as the regressive left.  They operate solely on emotion.  Intelligence doesn’t even enter into it.  Therefore, I only have to get them spewing their grand Jewish conspiracy, master-race horseshit to get the whole place laughing their asses off at these idiots.  It’s good, clean fun.

Because anyone with half a clue is going to take one look at the garbage they spout and fall over laughing. It’s totally indefensible, just like the social justice nonsense that the regressive left dribbles all over their own chins.  What’s worse, they fall for it again and again and again.  It’s the gift that keeps on giving.  They can’t respond intelligently to facts, the second you point out that nothing they say is at all defensible, they erupt into a wall of impotent rage at every bad thing in the world that is keeping them from being great, except themselves of course.  Like the regressive left, nothing bad that ever happens to them is their own fault.  They take no responsibility for their own lives.  It’s always the faceless threat of non-whites, just like it’s always the imaginary patriarchy on the left.  These people are just idiots through and through.

And these professional idiots are only too happy to show the world just how absurdly ridiculous they are. They just need a little poke. Where’s my stick?

Liberals are Horrible People

No, not all liberals, but certainly a considerable number, especially on the far fringes of the political left.  Why?  Because in a recent discussion about colleges uninviting conservative speakers, these people, as is no real surprise, turned right to victim blaming.

Of course they did.

No, colleges shouldn’t allow conservative speakers because apparently, it’s somehow their fault that the fucktards on the political left cannot control themselves when someone with a different political opinion appears, therefore it is now the fault of the conservative speakers that property gets destroyed by the illiberal left.

It’s like saying that a woman deserved to get raped because she dared to wear a short skirt.  These people are unbelievable.  They need a 2×4 to the back of the head, and I abhor violence but for these assholes, I’ll make an exception.

And yes, they are completely serious, they know what they’re saying and they’ve continually doubled down on their idiocy.  They believe that it’s the fault of the conservative speakers that liberals destroy property.  They believe that words are somehow responsible for actions.  They believe that conservative speakers, if they are allowed at all, should be required to pay for all of the damages and cover the costs of security keeping the liberal mobs at bay.

These people need a swift kick in the backside, that’s clearly where whatever passes for a brain resides. And you wonder why I hate self-identified liberals?  And why I keep questioning why those who insist on using that label want to be at all associated with these reprehensible pieces of human filth on the political left.  This is what liberalism is today.  It’s not about free speech, in fact, it’s exactly the opposite.  It’s not about freedom and liberty, it’s exactly the opposite.  This is not your grandparents’ liberalism. What you are is conservative.  The more people realize that, the better.

The Dumb, It Burns!

Every time I start to think that social media is at all worthwhile, something like this happens.  So I’m hanging out over on Gab.ai, which is sort of a free-speech Twitter replacement of sorts.  I knew that the far-right crazies were there, just like they are over on Minds, but I hadn’t run into any of them, mostly because I hadn’t spent any considerable time on Gab.ai.

Boy am I regretting it now.

So anyhow, this asshole makes a post saying that we ought to declare George Soros a terrorist sympathizer and therefore, we ought to confiscate all of his money and his companies and presumably throw him in jail for the rest of eternity and all that crazy crap.  And I simply posted that the whole idea behind that is so utterly reprehensible, no matter how much I hate George Soros, that everything about that sentiment was not only absurdly authoritarian, but ridiculously illegal.

And of course, the alt-right children came out of their echo chamber to challenge me.  It is amazing how damn stupid these people are.  They say that they can just change the law so they can steal all of Soros’ money.  First off, that’s unconstitutional, but secondly, laws are not retroactive.  Well sure they can be!  Oppressive regimes have been passing laws and retroactively stealing things forever!  We should too!

It was right about then that I gave up, these were either trolls or complete morons and so I walked away and they chased after me for a good hour, sending every insult they could think of my way, trying to get me to jump back into the fray.  I refrained.

But the more I look around the site, the more I see crap like this.  Crap that is clearly either intended to piss people off or to display the utter ignorance and stupidity of the people posting it.  This has become the norm for online social media these days and frankly, I want no part of it.  As I’ve said before, where do the normal people hang out?  The people who have a clue in their heads and some idea what logic, reason and critical thinking are?  Because those are the only people I want to be around anymore.  I’m tired of the rest.

I’m all for free speech, even speech that I find reprehensible, but why do people waste their free speech on utter stupidity?  I am at a complete loss.  What the hell is wrong with people?

Why Free College is So Problematic

Rhode Island has become the fourth U.S. state to offer free community college to all comers, bringing cries of support from the political left and anyone who understands the problem with this roll their eyes.  And there is a problem with this, one that nobody on the political left seems to understand.  If everyone has it, it’s just not worth anything.

To be honest, this is one of the reasons, not the only reason by any means, but one of the reasons why a high school education means nothing these days.  Getting that diploma doesn’t mean you’ve actually done any work or earned the right.  It just means you showed up.  And that’s something the left has done in this country too, they care more about rewarding people for waking up in the morning, because it makes them feel good, than in giving them a diploma for being successful in their studies.  You could be a failing student but you’ll still get a diploma because it might make someone feel bad if they don’t.  It’s pathetic.  A high school diploma means nothing because it doesn’t signify educational success.

But the left started insisting that everyone ought to go to college, whether they deserved it or not. They pushed down the requirements, people didn’t have to actually have the grades to go to college anymore, so long as they had the cash, and with government loans anyone could do it, so after a while, even college didn’t really mean anything.  It was just one more step in the educational ladder with a meaningless degree that didn’t actually prove you put in the work to earn it.  And with places like Evergreen State and Mizzou, where students are demanding they don’t actually have to do any school work because it might get in the way of their constant protesting, and liberal “feels-over-reals” professors not giving a damn if they’re actually teaching anything worthwhile, it’s no wonder why a college education is quickly becoming meaningless.

There’s this thing called supply and demand, maybe you’ve heard of it?  If there are too many people with a particular degree, the benefits for having that degree go down.  When you almost have to have a doctorate to get a job as a trash collector, then doctorates become meaningless.  All we have to do is look at Europe to see how the push for universal college education, regardless of qualifications, is turning into a disaster.  In Canada, England and India, people with advanced university degrees are driving taxis because there are no jobs for them.  Too much supply, not enough demand.  The taxi companies are even demanding that their applicants have degrees because it’s so easy to get applicants with those degrees. And because there are too many with degrees, those degrees don’t really mean anything.  The drive to hand them out has devalued them entirely.

So yes, by all means, let’s keep pushing kids to go to college, just for the sake of a college degree, whether or not that college degree will get them a job.  In far too many cases, it’s just another useless piece of paper that doesn’t really contribute to real world success.  And while we’re at it, let’s do it all at taxpayer expense because apparently, money grows on trees.  How is this supposed to make society better?  Because like it or not, it isn’t making society smarter, not when people are taking gender studies and other liberal arts programs that have no jobs whatsoever waiting for them at the end.  But it makes them feel good, and the political left gets more indoctrinated voters, which is why they spend so much time and money pushing this nonsense.  And if  you’ve fallen for it, you’re just their stooge.  Congrats.  You’ve failed this nation and this planet.  But that comes as no surprise at all.

The Unfortunate Case of Charlie Gard

This is an unfortunate story to be sure, but in England, young Charlie Gard was born with a very rare genetic disorder.  He was born seemingly normal, but quickly started to deteriorate.  He now has severe, irreversible brain damage, cannot move on his own, and has to be on a ventilator to breathe and IV fluids to survive.  His parents initially wanted to take him to America for an experimental treatment, but the British medical establishment stopped them over fears that it would be “cruel” to Charlie to allow him to be experimented on.

I guess dying isn’t cruel, especially when it’s unclear whether or not he’s feeling pain.

But this isn’t about governmental stupidity, it’s not even about experimental medical therapies, it’s about the cry to keep people alive who simply have no hope.  Charlie, at least at this point, is doomed to death. An American doctor, Michio Hirano, went to London to check on Charlie’s status and stated that while he might have been a candidate for the treatment at one time, he’s now beyond hope.  His parents have given up the legal fight to keep Charlie alive, which is probably the best thing that could happen to him at this point.

My question is, why do we keep seeing these cases, where a government or a society, desperately tries to keep these hopeless cases alive at all costs?  In fact, in every high profile case where someone is absolutely going to die, we get people demanding that they be kept on every machine in the hospital so their living nightmare can continue unabated.  It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about Brittany Maynard, who was going to die of brain cancer no matter what anyone did and just wanted to die on her own terms, or Terri Schiavo, who was forcibly kept alive for a decade against the wishes of her husband and legal representative, these cases are utterly disgusting.

It is none of society’s business what people do with their own bodies, or through their legal representatives.  It just isn’t.  The abject fear of death causes not only physical and mental torture to those afflicted, but it imposes absurd costs on society in a ridiculous pursuit of healing where no healing is possible. After all, it isn’t the parents or the individuals who are paying for these absurd life-saving measures, it’s the taxpayer.  Sorry, I don’t want my tax money going to pay for pointless and irrational moral crusades.  I just don’t.

I hate to say it, but the best thing that can happen to Charlie Gard now is that he dies.  Quickly and as painlessly as possible.  He couldn’t be saved.  In fact, British society actively killed him by keeping him from the only hope he had.  I hope they’re happy with themselves, but I suspect they don’t care. There will be another crusade to go on soon and they’ll cause more pain and suffering when it does.  People suck.

Talking to Libertarian Idiots

This is nothing new, I’ve complained about it before, but as with most things, there is nothing new under the sun, just the same old stupidity everywhere.  This time, back on that old canard of “natural rights”, yet another libertarian went bat-shit insane, to the point that most people were just pointing and laughing at this moron’s insanity.

She, it’s a woman this time, is completely convinced that natural rights exist.  They just do.  And how does she know that they do?  Because she saw a poll that said that lots of people believe they do.  People believe it, it has to be so!

Except that’s argumentum ad populum, a logical fallacy.  And she simply doesn’t care because it supports her side, therefore, natural rights are real and she wins.  Checkmate, logic!

It didn’t matter how many times we went around and around, she refused to admit that she had no evidence whatsoever that her beliefs were true, outside of fallacious claims that they were.  As with the religious, they make her feel good, therefore she will double and triple down on her irrationality because she just can’t be wrong.  It’s impossible.

This is pretty much how every wingnut libertarian debate ends up.  They have their infallible faith that they’re right, they base their entire ideology around that faith and when it turns out their faith is unsupportable, they explode into a pile of libertarian rage-stupidity and demand they have to be right because… because… because… reasons!

But their reasons are downright stupid.  They are not intellectually justifiable.  They are wholly emotional.  They are just lazy.  That’s why it is usually pointless to even engage with these people, they can’t defend their views and they won’t shut up about them either.

Sorry, not impressed and nobody else should be either.  I’m sympathetic to some of the rational libertarian-minded people out there, but the wingnuts, those are no better than the religious fanatics. And that’s sad.

War on the Grocery Industry in California

I have grown to hate the grocery industry in California following the passage of SB270, the grocery bag ban.  Now yes, a lot of it is the insane liberals, but one thing that people haven’t paid a lot of attention to was the influence of the grocery industry in particular, but of lots of businesses in general.

See, the second this came up, they started frothing at the mouth, wanting their cut of the sweet, sweet reusable bag money that was sure to sweep the land.  And why not?  Grocery stores in particular are one of the biggest beneficiaries of the ban.  They no longer have to pay for all of the plastic bags that they used to go through, in fact, now they make money on every single bag they can sell to the forgetful public.  Plus, I’ve seen stores cutting back on grocery baggers because now that people bring their own, there’s an expectation in a lot of places that you’re supposed to put your own groceries in your own bags.  Why pay for someone to do it?

And of course, that turns checkers into hard-core hawkers of selling bags.  Some of them are really insistent, like they have a quota to sell.  Some get really rude when they see you brought your own bags, or that you’ll simply pile it in your cart without bags.  It’s like you’ve done them some grave disservice.

But there are some stores that, at least so far, aren’t charging you for bags.  I’m sure that will come down the line, but I wonder if there are stores who will simply provide reusable bags for free to their loyal customers?  It would be great to see and I’d certainly do business with them because of it.  Still, I’m sure that everyone will cave to the reusable bag cult that has developed in California.  It isn’t like Californians have any choice and the grocery industry, in particular, put a ton of money into making sure the bill passed.

So, I did what I had to do.  I ordered some of the bags pictured above.  I mean, if I have to carry them around, I might as well make my opinion known.  And I never, ever buy bags from grocery stores.  Ever. If I forget my bag, I just throw it all in the cart, no matter how much I buy, and take it out to my car.  I don’t care how much the cashiers hate me.  In fact, the more they do, the more their employers do, the better.  Screw these people.  They stabbed the people of California, the good, hardworking people who aren’t liberal retards, for a profit motive.  And a cheap profit motive at that.  If I could simply never go to a grocery store again, I would.  If I trusted Amazon to get me all of the food I need on time, I’d order through them.  Maybe sometime I’ll try it.  But then the grocery stores would go after Amazon because people hating what the stores have done and taking their business elsewhere doesn’t teach them a lesson.  They don’t care.  But then again, I don’t care about them.  So screw the liberals and screw the grocery stores.  You’ve made an enemy once again.

Independence Day in a Divided Nation

I’m posting this on an off-day for Bitchspot, but that’s just how the 4th of July falls this year.  I wanted to say a couple of things about how this no longer feels like a national holiday because this no longer feels like a nation.  We have become so completely ideologically deadlocked, with both sides acting like children, that it’s hard to take a celebration of our independence seriously.  We’re just not independent anymore.

But people need to learn independence, especially independence from their ideological fanaticism. There are people out there, on both sides of the aisle, who are entirely incapable of thinking for themselves.  They hate everyone on the other side, on every topic conceivable, just because they’re on the other side.  You have assholes on the left who hate everything Trump has to say, simply because Trump said it.  It doesn’t matter how innocuous it might be, it’s terrible because it came out of his mouth.  And the same is true of assholes on the right who did the same thing over Obama.  These people have lost all reason when it comes to people who don’t walk in lockstep with their political beliefs.  They are incapable of stepping back and looking at anything from an unbiased perspective.

If you can’t think for yourself, as so many people cannot these days, then what hope is there?  I see this everywhere, from every political perspective.  What were once the fanatics, the extremists, are now the mainstream.  How can we hope to resolve our differences if people are absolutely unwilling to even talk to those they don’t already agree with?  How can we come together as a nation if we are so completely ideologically divided?  It just keeps getting worse and when it gets worse, both sides turn to violence, as we’re seeing today, particularly on the political left.  I’ve asked before, but how long before both sides declare an ideological jihad and come out shooting?  I think we’ve already seen the first few battles on the front of a new, and violent all-out war.

It’s fine to disagree.  You don’t have to like everyone, but you can’t allow yourself to sink into that kind of abject hatred of anyone who isn’t on your side.  Not only does that fracture society, but it eventually leads to the kind of thing we saw in Atheism+ and other far-left movements, it leads to eating your own, as everyone virtue signals as hard as they can, dedicated to throwing anyone who isn’t as virtuous as they are, or about exactly the same things, out into the cold.  It leads only to self-destruction and, on a large scale, the fall of a great nation.  People need to grow the hell up now, while there’s still time.

Come on people, enough is enough.  We need to work through our differences rationally, not through violence and not through abject hatred.  This is something I don’t want to have to come back with “I told you so” later on.  Can we please nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand?  Otherwise, as we’re clawing our way out of the rubble, we are going to regret it.  You might not think so now, but you will, and it will all be your fault.

I’m Not a Hypocrite

I ran across a post over on Godless Mama’s blog, where she describes a number of things, apparently that she’s seen, that she describes as hypocritical.  I’ll be the first one to agree that hypocrisy runs rampant online and that people from all groups can and often are guilty of it.  That said, and I know this wasn’t aimed at me, but I wanted to go through her list and see what I thought of the various ideas she’s come up with from my personal perspective.  I am not a hypocrite. Note, I’m not saying she’s wrong by any means because I’ve seen this kind of hypocrisy online, but this is my take:

You spend a lot of time defending Milo Yiannopolous and Richard Spencer under the banner of “we have to protect even the most offensive speech,” but did not defend Kathy Griffin’s mock ISIS photo under the banner of “we have to protect even the most offensive speech.”

There is a difference between defending a person’s right to speak, which I think applies every bit to Yiannopolous and Spencer and Griffin, and defending a person from the consequences of that speech.  Milo and Kathy lost their jobs because of their chosen speech.  That was up to their employers and they had every right to make those decisions.  So long as no one tries to stop their ability to speak, I’m fine with it.  Actions have, and should have, consequences.

You chastise others for their echo chambers and admonish them to engage with to their opponents, but block people who disagree with you on Facebook and Twitter.

I don’t block anyone, anywhere, unless it becomes painfully obvious that they are incapable of having any kind of intelligent discussion or debate, or they’re just a troll.  Then again, I use neither Facebook nor Twitter, so I don’t think this applies to me regardless.

You have ever said “fuck your feelings” with regard to perceived political correctness, but lamented the lack of respect shown to Mike Pence when he was booed at a Broadway show.

I couldn’t care less about feelings.  The only thing I would say about said Broadway show was a lack of respect for people who paid good money to see a production, not a political attack.  If I paid to see a movie and instead, we got a political diatribe from the actors, I’d be rightfully pissed off.  These are supposed to be professional actors who were paid to put on a play, not to rant about political topics.

You were horrified by the evangelical Christian trend of “purity balls” but laud hijab as a feminist symbol.

I’m not really bothered by purity balls, I think they’re stupid because I find Christianity to be stupid, but if people want to voluntarily put them on, I don’t think they actually hurt anything.  Nor do I really care what clothes people choose to voluntarily wear.  Note, I said voluntarily.  If it is imposed on them under threat of violence or punishment, that’s a different matter altogether.

You supported the Benghazi investigations but oppose the Trump-Russia investigation.

I don’t oppose investigating anything for which there is evidence.  Remind me when there was any evidence whatsoever for Trump-Russia again?  This is just more butt-hurt nonsense from the political left because they can’t believe they lost the election.  On the other hand, Hillary admits that she violated the law by having a personal e-mail server and deleting e-mails.  There is evidence for that.

It bothered you that Richard Spencer lost his gym membership, but you think LGBT couples should just find another bakery.

I don’t think either is true.  All businesses must follow the same public accommodation laws.  I don’t think the gym should have been able to deny Richard Spencer a membership unless they could show that his being on the premises constituted either a public safety risk or a demonstrable hazard to their continued existence as a business.  Bakeries are in business to make cakes.  They are not in business to make moral pronouncements about their customers.

You criticize western feminists who talk about sexist imagery in comics for overly frivolous concerns, but complain about women-only screenings of the film Wonder Woman.

Again, public accommodation laws.  You cannot discriminate against someone on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or creed.  Alamo was discriminating, which should not be acceptable, period.  The same goes for hotels that set up floors for just women.  That’s discrimination.  Now Alamo said that men, if they wanted the same experience, they could pay for a private screening.  So could women.  Therefore they are having a double standard based on gender, the very definition of discrimination.

You called the people who were outraged when Trump bragged about grabbing women’s genitals without their permission “snowflakes,” but not the people who were outraged when Colin Kaepernick didn’t stand for the national anthem.

People have a right to free speech and that includes not standing for the national anthem.  Again, freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.  Nobody  called the anti-Trump whiners snowflakes because they didn’t have the right to be upset, but because they chose something essentially meaningless to get upset over, something the are still doing regarding Trump to this day.  I’d say the same thing to people who got upset over Kaepernick’s perfectly legal decision not to stand.  Now Kaepernick’s employers could and did choose not to continue his contract, which was entirely their right to do, just as the American people could have chosen not to elect Trump over his comments, which they didn’t do.

You were more bothered by Michelle Obama’s bare arms than by Melania Trump’s nudity.

Can’t remember caring about either, sorry.

You characterize Milo Yiannopolous as “just a troll” but an anti-Trump D-list comedian as “a Leftist celebrated public figure.”

Never said either.  In fact, I did criticize Milo for being a troll.  I don’t think people should troll anyone at all for any reason, period.  I find the whole practice utterly idiotic.  But there is a difference between saying mean things and putting out pictures of yourself holding the severed head of the President of the United States.  Threatening the President is a class E felony under Title 18.  I don’t care if Kathy thought it was a joke, it was a really stupid thing to do.

You dismiss non-binary concepts of gender as not based in science, but defended the “Penis as Social Construct” hoax by saying even if this hoax didn’t debunk the field of gender studies, it doesn’t matter because everyone knows a better hoax would have.

I think hoaxes and trolling are idiotic, period.  The whole “Penis as Social Construct” thing was funny because it showed just how idiotic these snowflakes actually are, that they took it at all seriously.  We have only to look at very real papers, like “Glaciers, Gender, and Science” which showed up in Progress in Human Geography, to see that.  All someone has to do is throw out an article that agrees with their preconceived notions and they’ll embrace it uncritically.  Ideology means more than reality to these people.

You oppose legal abortion but support the death penalty.

I support both.  But is it hypocritical to support legal abortion and oppose the death penalty?

You said jokes about the death of Roger Ailes were disrespectful of Ailes’s family, but you promote Sandy Hook truther Alex Jones or call criticism of Sean Hannity’s treatment of the Rich family “regressive.”

I really don’t care.  Roger Ailes was a dick.  So is Alex Jones.  So is Sean Hannity.  Any criticism that is decried because it makes someone feel bad is absurd.  It only matters if the criticism is valid.

You claim to oppose Islam on behalf of the women it oppresses, but promote personalities who deny the existence of date rape or who call for white women to be publicly flogged for sexual impropriety.

I oppose Islam because it’s an idiotic belief system that harms people.  And I don’t see anyone who says that date rape doesn’t happen, I do see people who argue that retroactive “rape” is ridiculous, where women who decide, after the fact, that they changed their mind and therefore they got raped when they consented at the time of the act, is about the stupidest thing imaginable.

You deny that Western colonialism turns Muslims into Islamists, but claim that too much political correctness turns white people into racists.

No, Islam turns Muslim into Islamists.  Violence is part and parcel with Islam, as it is with Christianity. That people can choose to ignore large swaths of their religious beliefs because it interferes with the culture and society in which they live isn’t excusing Islam, it’s showing how little religion actually matters to believers.

You spent weeks or months condemning the Richard Spencer punch and holding it up as evidence of pervasive violence on the Left, but justified, laughed at, or remained silent when a conservative politician assaulted a journalist and deny it is indicative of a violence problem on the Right.

Violence is never called for, no matter who performs it, especially as a response for free speech.  The only opposition to free speech that we ought to permit is more free speech.  But where I haven’t personally seen people celebrating Greg Gianforte body slamming Ben Jacobs, the same cannot be said of the left, who have turned the sucker punching of Richard Spencer into a celebrated meme.

You spend more time worrying about the threat to free speech posed by Ann Coulter being dis-invited from speaking at a college campus than you do about a citizen being convicted and imprisoned for laughing at a government official (or a bill that would send teenagers to federal prison for sexting, or a journalist being arrested for asking a government official a question, or state legislatures passing laws criminalizing peaceful protests).

Limiting free speech by any government entity is a violation of people’s constitutional rights, period. That means that people should never be disinvited to speak at publically funded colleges, nor should they be jailed for exercising their free speech rights to laugh at politicians or any of the other things you mentioned.

You declare the importance of seeing people as individuals rather than as collectives while making hasty generalizations about feminists, Muslims, Democrats, Leftists, etc.

Maybe people should stop joining these collectives if they don’t want to be tarred by their negatives?  Maybe people should stop being offended when people object to things that these groups do. That’s really the biggest problem with collectivism, that the second someone criticizes a label, the people who wear that label, even if they are not guilty of the criticism, get upset that someone said something mean about their label.  I mean personally, you can say all the mean things you want about atheism or conservatism you want, it won’t bother me at all unless the things you say directly describe a position that I hold.

You speak out against anti-LGBT attitudes embraced by conservative Christians, but file anti-LGBT attitudes among Muslims under “cultural differences.”

I find both reprehensible.  Of course, the only people who are accepting anti-LGBT attitudes among Muslims tend to come from the political left, people that I generally oppose.  But I also oppose the religious right, so I’m an equal opportunity critic.

You denigrate the boycott of Sean Hannity’s advertisers in response to his treatment of the Rich family as a regressive leftist attack for “wrong think,” but were supportive or silent when conservatives boycotted Beauty and the Beast for having a gay character (or Hamilton because the cast addressed Mike Pence; or Budweiser, 84 Lumber, CocaCola, Airbnb, Kia, and Tiffany for airing SuperBowl ads with pro-diversity messages; or Nordstrom for dropping Ivanka Trump’s clothing line; or Netflix for having a show called Dear White People; or Starbucks for having insufficiently Christian holiday coffee cups; or Hawaii because a federal judge there ruled against Trump’s travel ban; or Target for encouraging trans people to use their restroom of choice; or Target again for banning loaded guns in its stores; or ABC for cancelling Last Man Standing; or . . .  )

People can boycott anything they want, for any reason they want.  Boycotts don’t work.  They tend to happen when people cannot address the problems that they identify on the other side of the political spectrum.  Now of course, people can do what they choose to do with their money and can choose to buy or not buy products based on any criteria they like.  I just object to it when it goes beyond being an organic, individual effort and turns into mob justice.  Mob justice sucks.

So there are my answers.  Keep in mind, I am not being critical of Godless Mama in any way, shape or form for pointing out this hypocrisy, I think she’s identified some excellent points and people ought to think about why they get offended by some things and not others.  Hypocrisy is not something anyone should be proud of.  It is something that people ought to try to excise from their lives and far too often, unfortunately, do not.  But this is where being skeptical needs to be a part of your character, not something you apply here but not there, because it might offend your political sensibilities.  That’s something that’s a bigger problem than most people want to admit.

Fear of Responsibility

Not too long ago, Vjack over on Atheist Revolution posted an article asking whether health care was a right or a privilege.  So I stupidly said “neither, it’s a responsibility” and the inevitable liberal dogpile began, along with the inevitable name-calling and moral degradation that inevitably comes from the left. But that doesn’t change anything, it just reveals the pathetic nature of the political left once again.

Whether people like it or not, everything in your life, health care included, is your responsibility.  Your life and the lives of those under your care is your responsibility to provide for.  That means you have to feed your family.  That means you need to clothe your family.  That means you need to put a roof over their head and give them at least the basics that would be considered necessary in society.  And if you can’t do that or you don’t do that, it’s your failure.  Society is not to blame.

This brings me back to why I’m convinced that liberalism kills societies.  Conservativism builds them, it makes them successful and powerful and then, at a certain point where there is more money and resources than absolutely necessary, when people no longer have to be concerned with basic life necessities, they turn their attention outward and everything comes crashing down.  So for a  lot of these people, not all certainly, but for a lot of very vocal leftists, they think that just waking up in the morning entitles them to money from the government and, for an alarming number, respect from their peers.  Just wanting to be respected somehow guarantees respect now, apparently.  And to get these things, they simply arbitrarily declare them to be a “right”.  Healthcare is a “right”.  A job is a “right”.  And it isn’t even a job anymore, it’s a well-paying and “respectable” job, or for some, they don’t even want a job, they just want a check, a “minimum guaranteed income” whether they choose to work or not.  What is wrong with these people?

Of course, that’s on top of free college and guaranteed retirement benefits, all of which comes without the requirement to actually earn any of it.  It’s a gift, given to them, because they somehow deserve it. Exactly how they think they deserve it, or anything else they haven’t earned, is beyond me.  But damn it, it makes them feel good to think so, so “gimme gimme gimme!”

And that’s where the whole of society comes a tumbling down.  Societies are built on hard work and personal responsibility.  You get where you are because of your own sweat and effort, not because someone hands you a check.  A healthy society operates as a meritocracy.  Liberals hate merit.  They don’t want everyone to have equal opportunity, they want everyone to have equal outcome, but reality simply doesn’t work that way.  You cannot have equal outcome when everyone doesn’t work as hard, everyone isn’t equally skilled or talented and everyone doesn’t achieve the same things.  And that becomes clear when liberal jealousy brings everyone down to the lowest common denominator so no one feels bad that they didn’t win the trophy.  We just give out trophies to everyone.  We just hand out government checks to everyone.  How we pay for any of it, who cares, right?  Just print money or borrow it from others and ride the liberal crazy train into ruin.  This is what happens when you spend more time feeling and not nearly enough thinking.  But hey, that’s the liberal way, right?

Making America Great

Recently I had a talk with someone I know who is a total Trump fanatic.  They have multiple Team Trump bumper stickers on their car and were vocal supporters,  both before the election and after. So we started talking about making America great again, and whether or not Trump was going to accomplish it during his 4, and according to them, 8 years in the White House.

And I had to say no.  Not because I don’t think Trump wants to do it, but because I don’t think it can be done.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of the things holding America back, at least in my personal opinion, are problems that will take decades, if not generations to fix. It’s not something that a single president can conceivably do in a single term, or even two terms.  These are not dictates that can be handed down from on high, they are fundamental changes that need to happen to our society and culture and honestly, nobody wants to do what it takes to get the job done.

The first thing that needs to be done is a serious swing back towards conservatism.  I don’t mean hyper-religious neo-conservatism, I mean actual conservatism with a serious emphasis on responsibility.  And to do that, we need to utterly eliminate regressivism from this country.  The modern regressives need to go the hell away forever.  Without that, everything else fails.  But it’s taken a very long time, more than 50 years, to ruin this country with liberalism, it will take at least as long to fix it.  That’s far more than any President will ever have in office.

Secondly, religion needs to vanish, and along with it, every last vestige of irrationality.  We’re well on our way to eliminating the most vile forms of religion and most young people are rejecting religious beliefs altogether so we just have to wait for the old guard to drop dead for the levels of religious irrationality to drop even further.  I figure the death of religion, at least organized religion, to be at least a century out, although fundamentalism will die off even sooner.

Unfortunately, liberalism and atheism tend to go together, which is just trading one problem for another.  So we’ll have to wait, not only for the religious to die off, but for the new band of atheists to grow up.  The well-known saying, “If you’re not a liberal at 25, you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative by 35, you have no brain”, regardless of who actually said it, still holds true, although I will admit that I was never a liberal and don’t see having no heart as being a bad thing.  But liberalism, or at least the most radical forms of regressive liberalism, is poison to societies.  It is killing Europe, where allowing unrestrained Muslim immigration is causing a rape epidemic across the most liberal nations. It is allowing religious violence against non-Muslims at an alarming rate.  In fact, I don’t think it will be long before liberals will become violent fanatics in their own right, we’re already seeing the earliest vestiges of that across the planet.

What is going to make America great again?  Making America powerful again.  Not militarily, although certainly there is a certain amount of that that needs to exist, but culturally, societally and financially. We need to make our own products, we need to make the best in the world and we need to lead the planet in research and development of goods and services like we once did.  Made in America once meant something.  Today, it doesn’t.   Those are all conservative values, which is why it isn’t surprising why they don’t really exist in America today.  Liberalism has driven them away, to our increasing failure and the liberals just don’t care.  They want American mediocrity, not American success.  Then want everyone to sink to the lowest common denominator instead of expecting the bottom to rise.

Trump can’t make America great again, and honestly I don’t think a lot of his plans are even going in the right direction, but maybe he can set some things in motion that may, over time, help the situation.  And maybe he can’t.  I just don’t know.  But even if it isn’t Trump, we need someone, likely many. many someones, to actually care enough to push the changes we need to make because without it, we’re doomed.

Racist Liberals Ignoring Black Slavery

You know, it’s funny to watch liberals scramble to ignore things that go against their narrative. Someone recently brought up the fact that blacks had slaves in the U.S. as well, plus they are currently the biggest slave-owners on the planet, but hey, liberals ignore that.  And not only did they immediately spring to the defense of black slave owners, they did everything they could to minimize black slavery so they could get back to their “whites are evil” rhetoric.

And that’s the thing, this isn’t about racism, it’s about identity politics.  Liberals love anyone who isn’t a cisgender white male.  They will defend those people, no matter how far they have to contort their views, because white men are evil and everyone else is not.

This reminds me of a recent exchange where I brought up, in passing, the Malik Obama story where he presented a picture of what he claims was his brother’s Kenyan birth certificate.  Now I very clearly said that I thought the whole thing was stupid, just as I have said since 2008, but it’s interesting, at least, that someone who you might reasonably expect might have access to such things is now presenting it.  Interesting.  Not worthwhile, since Obama is out of office.  I don’t even think it’s true.  But it is conceptually interesting.  And apparently, my specifically saying I’m not a birther somehow makes me a birther to the liberal lunatics.  The very fact that I brought it up at all, in a forum dedicated to breaking news stories, was enough to make me a pariah for the liberal community.  These people are idiots.

I will never understand what is wrong with these idiots.  If something is true, be it Obama’s birth certificate or black slave owners, then it is true, whether it offends your liberal sensibilities or not. If it is false, it is false. Reality is what reality is.  How it makes you feel doesn’t change anything. But these idiots are so quick to defend anyone on “their side” or part of “their protected groups” that they are going to attack anyone who even dares to question their regressive faith without regard for the truth or falsehood of their statements.  Whether it’s actually true or not is irrelevant to the left.  It falls outside of their blind faith so it has to be not only rejected, but actively attacked, with the reputation of the offender impugned, because the very idea that liberal beliefs are not totally true is impossible to conceive of.

And this is the major problem with the political left these days.  You can see it in everything they do. Don’t tell me I’m the only one who can see this.

MGTOW is a Cult

I can sort of sympathize with some people who identify as MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way). After all, at least when you’re looking at far-left liberal women, there isn’t anything really worth wanting to be around, so making an individual decision to avoid the radical feminist idiots is pretty easy to understand.

But damn, there are a lot of people who go far beyond making their own decisions to advocating that all men everywhere adopt the female-free lifestyle and if you happen to be married, or happen to want to get married, they’ll rain down holy hell on your head because you’re not swilling their particular flavor of Koolaid.

This is really where some people, not all by any means, but a painfully large percentage of the MGTOW movement become cultic in their behavior.  It stops being an individual choice and starts being an action plan.  But of course, this is why I’m not a joiner and really don’t get people who are.  I don’t sign on to any group ideology.  Even if I didn’t want to get married, I would never join a group of people who likewise didn’t want to get married.  It would be my choice and my choice alone and I wouldn’t have to embrace a cult identity to get it.

This is a problem with the Child-Free movement as well, which a post over at Atheist Revolution recently reminded me.  Not for everyone, of course, but I have had more than my fair share of people who are adamantly child free and think everyone else should be too.  Too bad for you.  You don’t get to impose your emotional nonsense onto the world, just because you don’t like it.

I probably wouldn’t say if there was ever a rational reason they give, but it’s always emotional.  Women suck!  Kids suck!  No, you suck!  You have unrealistic expectations of the world.  Grow up and knock it off.  Come back when you have a rational, intellectual argument to evaluate.  I’ll look at your claims and see if they meet logical muster.  But if all you can do is scream “I hate da wimminz!” and “I hate da kidz!” then fuck you.  You hate them because you are intellectually and emotionally a child.  And that’s not something you, or anyone else, should be proud of.

The Bechdel Test and Identity Politics

I will never understand it.  Everywhere I go, I see people talking about how horrible it is that women aren’t in every leading role in every movie, that blacks are not represented in every TV show and that gay people aren’t prominently and positively portrayed at every turn.  And my question to you is… who cares?

I was listening to a podcast and they started arguing about the Bechdel Test for Godzilla movies and I spent the whole time just shaking my head.  What difference does any of it make?

Because here’s the thing.  I don’t care.  I don’t give a damn about the sex or skin color of the people in my entertainment.  As most people know, I’m a big fan of Japanese dramas.  I watch a ton of them and review them on my other blog.  Not once have I ever given the slightest shit that there are no white people on screen.  Not once.  Because I don’t care.  And if you do, why?  Explain it to me. Rationally.

I just finished playing through Rise of the Tomb Raider and it didn’t bother me a bit that the only option I had was to play a woman.  Big deal.  Is that supposed to hurt my feelings?  Or in games that I’ve played where the main character is black, am I supposed to fall into an existential funk because they’re not just like me?  Or am I just supposed to play the game and not give a damn?  Because I fall into the latter camp.

So why do I not care and the identity politics fanatics on the left get butt hurt because they can’t personally identify with the characters in movies, TV shows and video games?  Why do things have to look or act or sound just like them in order to be worthwhile?  That comes off as terribly racist and sexist to me, but then again, that’s exactly what the left is.

The reality is, a lot of the movies that they complain about, the games they make teary-eyed videos about, those are things that are intended for and generally consumed by men.  It is the demographic that typically spends the most money to consume that content.  So it’s no surprise that the majority of lead characters in those games and movies are going to be men.  But you can hear the whiny feminists screaming whenever they notice this, can’t you?  You know what you don’t hear?  Men complaining about the content of chick flicks.  Men don’t get offended when women are the leads in movies and games and TV shows intended for women.  Oh no.  Men don’t scream because male actors are treated as eye candy. Men don’t care. Or at least most conservative men don’t care.  What the hell is wrong with liberals?

This is why I keep objecting to identity politics, because it’s mindless leftist stupidity.  I mean, probably the first time I recognized this was way back when I was a kid and people were insisting that they make black Barbies for black girls because they don’t want to play with white dolls.  It struck me as stupid then, it strikes me as stupid now.  I’m fine with them making whatever might sell, but to do so on racial terms because little black girls are being trained to only care about black people is ludicrous.  If a white kid wants to play with a black doll, good for them.  The reverse is also true.  If they complain that they only want to play with a doll that’s the same color that they are, get them out of that liberal indoctrination center that they’re clearly attending.

I find the whole thing to be terminally idiotic.  Why everyone else doesn’t as well is beyond me.

More Failures of Twitter Feminism

I’m starting to remember why I walked away from Twitter, it’s still the same old irrational cesspool that it always was.  Trying to engage with anyone there is utterly ridiculous because I find it difficult to find anyone who can actually discuss anything rationally.  Take this case for instance.

Someone posted something about the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, that it was so great that girls have an “empowering” character that looks like them.  So, stupid me, I have to ask why it’s important that people have an “empowering” character that looks like them.  Can’t they just find their empowerment in any worthwhile character?  Why does it specifically have to be female?  They come back saying “oh, I just meant that it’s great that this wonderful character is getting a movie” as they run for the hills.

That doesn’t answer my question though.  That’s also not what they said.  They did not say “it’s great that this deserving character is getting a movie”, they said that it was great for girls, specifically, that a female character, specifically, is “empowering,” specifically.

I even agreed, I like Wonder Woman and I’m a man.  Am I not allowed to be “empowered” by a female character?  Are women not allowed to be “empowered” by male characters?  Are blacks not allowed to be “empowered” by white characters and vice versa?  Why does everyone need someone that “looks just like them” in order to get anything beneficial out of it?  I don’t get it.

And neither does this poster, who as soon as I pushed the issue about empowerment on racial or gender lines, suddenly stopped responding.  I get it.  They got caught with their pants down and realize there is no winning outcome for their philosophy so they ran away to their safe space to hide.  It isn’t like they stopped tweeting, they were active, they were just ignoring me.  No surprise there.

So since the feminists won’t address it, I guess I’ll direct the question to the blog audience.  Why do people need to have “empowering” characters that look just like them?  Why can’t they just be “empowered” by worthwhile characters, regardless of their gender or race or sexual orientation? Can someone explain that to me please?  I’d really appreciate it.

The Selective Liberal Dictionary

Have I said how much I hate liberals lately?  They are hypocrites of the highest order, at least the ones I tend to debate.  Recently, the story of Ben Carson calling African slaves “immigrants” came out and, of course, the liberal whine parade had to run around screaming that the sky was falling.  Slaves can’t be immigrants because it wasn’t voluntary!

So I pulled out the dictionary and presented the definition of the word:  a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country.  Nowhere in that definition does it describe the circumstances under which a person comes to live in a foreign country, it just says that they do.  It’s a perfectly accurate term to use, whether the illiberal left likes it or not.

You’d think these people don’t know what dictionaries are.  Of course, we know they do, they trot them out whenever the definition fits what they want to claim, like feminism, but when it doesn’t, they shrug and say “what’s a dictionary?”  Words only mean things when it helps them. They’re a bunch of hypocrites.

But why is this?  Because they have no actual arguments, they are just constant rage machines.  They don’t think, they just react.  They’re looking for something to get upset about, even if what they get upset about makes no rational sense.  This is what happens when emotions are used in place of intelligence.  The left has become the ideology of virtue signaling.  They want to look moral so they get upset at anything and everything that they can justify to themselves just might be bad, even if it isn’t. It’s why we see so much political correctness and censorship on the left, because they have to be higher and mightier than you are, even if they’re really not.

Please people, before you go screaming about some word that made you feel bad, go look up what that word actually means in the dictionary.  It might stop you from looking like an idiot, or at least it might make you look less like an idiot before you open your fool mouth and confirm everyone’s suspicions.

Liberal Hypocrites

This has come up a lot lately, where you will have liberals, and it is only liberals that I see this in, who will hold a double standard on something, based on whether they like the person or the group involved.

This came up most recently in a discussion about taxes, with a self-professed liberal whining long and hard that Donald Trump didn’t pay taxes for some period of time.  I pointed out that everything he did was legal and, let’s be honest, most poor people don’t pay any taxes either and I don’t hear him whining about that.  Then he twice… TWICE, ignored my point about the poor and instead of acknowledging that what both do is legal, he started saying that tax laws were written specifically to “suppress” the poor, and anyone wealthy who followed the same tax laws was criminal scum.  That’s kind of where I gave up.

But you get the same kind of thing over the recent Milo Yiannopolis debacle when you start asking why Milo can say something stupid about pedophilia, but liberal Lena Dunham can do the same thing and not suffer any negative repercussions from it.  You didn’t see the political left screaming that Dunham should never work in Hollywood again.  Where Milo just talked about pedophilia in general terms, Dunham admits to actually engaging in sexual activity with her sister.  But no… liberals would never demand the same thing from someone on their side, would they?

There’s a certain degree of hypocrisy in virtually everything I see the political left do.  I’m not saying you never see it from the right because, as I say constantly, the right is more liberal today than it is conservative, but it’s something I constantly see from the left.  Trump is a liar!  But we’re not going to point out that Hillary was a bigger liar or anything because she’s on their side.

So why is this?  If you have any insight, please post it in the comments. I’m really interested in hearing what people think.
