Back for part 5 and this looks like it’ll run close to 20 parts, so be prepared. Every point on the list, and I’ll link to where I’m getting it below the fold, I’m going to handle individually because there really isn’t much, if anything, on the progressive platform that I have any interest in whatsoever. If anyone wants to defend it in the comments, please feel free. Don’t do so by attacking what you imagine my positions to be, because you’re probably going to be wrong. Actually defend your side, with evidence. I doubt we’ll see any of that.
I’m taking this from The Progressive Promise, which is a platform statement from the House of Representatives. Unfortunately, like all platform statements, what it says doesn’t stand up in actual reality. Yes, I know that this is not what all progressives believe and that it is being stated in the most attractive way possible to attract people to vote for them, but still, this is why I cannot stand any of these positions.
Ending mass incarceration and advancing equal justice under the law.
I probably agree with parts of this, but not the way that they want to do it. I am all for actual justice. People should be put in prison for things that they do, entirely without regard for their wealth or political positions. A crime is a crime is a crime. Too bad the left doesn’t see it that way.
You take places like California where the leftist government wants to just let people out of prison wholesale. They’ve been letting criminals out, including convicted murderers, and the crime statistics have been on the rise. California ranks 17th in national violent crime rates, with a 6.1% increase in reported violent crimes and a 6.2% increase in property crime from 2021 to 2024.
For shoplifting, don’t even call the police for anything under a certain threshold because they won’t bother to show up. That means that stores are closing in a lot of liberal stronghold cities because they can’t afford to stay in business. People are just walking out the door with their carts full. In a lot of cases, even the internal security at the store isn’t allowed to do anything because they are more likely to get sued for trying to recover their stolen merchandise than the criminals are to be prosecuted for their crimes.
Why? Because the left doesn’t want to hold the poor, or most especially, minorities accountable. I’ve made this point in a lot of videos that “sticking it to the man” is a tried and true stance for the far left. The “man” here is anyone who has more money than you do. Since the left panders to the poor and the poor is largely non-white, non-whites can get away with pretty much anything and businesses are closing their stores left and right.
So now what are the poor going to do when they have nowhere to go for food or clothing? Thomas Sowell has been saying this forever and the left never learns. They don’t want to learn.
Keep in mind that they aren’t really against punishment, they are only trying to keep their pet classes out of prison. One only has to remember that California tried to put people in prison for “misgendering” people. It’s not just California because Michigan is trying to do the same thing. These are blatantly unconstitutional, as people have the right to free speech, which is what got the California law overturned, but they keep trying, don’t they? It’s all an agenda. It makes no rational sense.
They aren’t trying to improve the country, they are trying to make their voters feel better so they keep voting for them. They don’t care about justice, they only care about power. I am going to vote against anyone who tries that, no matter what side of the political aisle they’re on. I want people who are trying to serve the public good, not their own vested interests. Both sides are guilty, but the left are far, far, far worse, especially the farther to the extreme you go.
Screw progressives. Come back when you actually care about someone other than yourselves and can be remotely rational. I don’t think we’ll ever see that happen.
