There was a recent call over on The Line from a woman named Angel in Ireland and while the call wandered around a lot, there were two points that I wanted to touch on. First, she asked if every religion in the world became “extremely progressive” overnight, would Matt and Jimmy still fight against them, and secondly, when talking about skepticism, she kept insisting that she was open-minded, as if they were the same thing.

So you know they’re making a new Red Sonja movie, right? It’s been in development hell for a very long time and at one point, Bryan Singer was supposed to direct, but that was a long time ago. Now, they’ve got their second female director involved, M.J. Bassett, who replaced Jill Soloway, who now wants to be non-binary, which this is Hollywood, why the hell not, but we’re seeing that this is going to be a complete disaster.
I’ve said for a long time that wanting everyone to be just like you are, that’s a recipe for disaster. It just starts echo chambers where no one can ever learn anything because everyone already believes the same thing. I am not like that. I think it’s an unrealistic expectation, but recently, someone called me out on it and I wanted to respond.
It’s not hard to see if you just bother to look, but on YouTube especially, there are people on both sides of the social divide that assert that the other side sucks, just because the other side doesn’t agree with their own unsupported assertions. They’re right, everyone else is wrong, so there!
Honestly, when did everyone decide that they couldn’t make a move without the consensus of social media? Just ran into some idiot who said he bought a tool at Walmart, he got it home and it didn’t work. It was faulty. What does he do?
Not that it’s any surprise, but here we go again. Rationality Rules made a video, which, absolutely is true for what it’s doing, but he completely ignores the fact that his own political ideology does exactly the same thing. He can’t acknowledge that, can he? He can’t even see it happening.
It’s weird where you find stupid people, but here you go. Over on Facebook, in a local pet group, someone posted that she had a dog that she’d gotten from a homeless guy who, in her words “wasn’t taking care of it”. She was trying to give it away.
Yeah, I’m going to complain about this again because it’s happened twice this week and I am sick to death of it.
Now this is a long-standing problem, but my wife’s parents died, about 2 years ago now, more or less, and we, since she’s the executor of their will and estate, we just changed their address to ours, so we’d get all of the important mail. Along with that, we get tons of junk mail for them and it goes right into the trash.
I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this, I can only assume that they have, but I am sick and tired of people using claimed autism as an excuse for just being an asshole.
