What to Do About BitChute?

As people ought to know, I upload my videos to BitChute, as well as Odysee, just so that, if YouTube ever does anything stupid and deletes my channel, I have backups.  It was never to get additional followers, it was just to have a wider reach.

Now, I’m really starting to doubt my decision to stay on BitChute. Here’s why.

Before I begin, I want to say that there are other problems beyond the one that I’m going to focus on. BitChute takes a lot of extra work. It used to be, years back now, that they would just grab my videos from YouTube and I didn’t have to do anything extra. That went away a long time ago. Now, I have to upload specifically to BitChute and because they don’t have scheduling, I have to physically go and make every video live or it remains invisible.

It’s not like they couldn’t fix it. Odysee can manage it, why can’t they? However, I’ve arranged my schedule so that I can be in my office most of the time and make it live at the right time, then watch the video when it shows up on YouTube, just to make sure nothing went wrong. Usually, that works out fine, except on, say, Saturday, when I have Supercuts going live and I’m not home. Then, BitChute has to wait until I get around to it. It’s a pain.

That’s not the current problem though. I’ve made my peace with that, mostly. This isn’t even new, per se. From the very beginning, it was clear that there were a lot of… well, assholes over there. Religious people who were very clearly and openly anti-Semitic, for example. There are tons of open racists running around. I’ve deleted some comments, but I am loathe to do so most of the time. I do not want to censor in any but the most extreme cases.

However, I recently got a comment by a… I don’t know, a pedophile? Pedophile adjacent? No clue. They posted this:

I agree that gods are fake but I disagree that adult sexual access to children should be illegal.

I’m not going to say who did it because I don’t want anyone running over and going after them, although I left the comment on a video and you can go do your own legwork if you want to.

That’s making me feel a little dirty just having my videos over there right now. Granted, they could also be on YouTube under a different name, but the atmosphere on BitChute just isn’t… good. It’s not like I get a lot of subscriptions or views there, that was never the point, but now, there’s a serious “ick” factor too.

So, what do you think? Should I keep going through the hassle to upload, make public and deal with people like that or should I just call it a day, delete the channel and just stop caring? It’s not like there has ever been any good conversations that take place there. The religious are… jerks. Sure, theists on YouTube are assholes too, but BitChute tends to be a lot more hardcore religious and the number of times I’ve been cussed out or told I’m going to hell, or that I should die, that’s far, far higher than on YouTube. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth it and at the moment, I don’t think that it is.

I’m probably going to post something over in the community page on YouTube, directing people here, since even mentioning pedophilia there might get them to come after me, even though I’m saying pedophiles suck. Granted, on YouTube, pedophiles are probably a protected class but it isn’t worth the risk. Just let me know, either in the comments here, or on YouTube, what you think I ought to do. I’m still working through it. On the one hand, yes, it will make my life easier just cutting it loose. On the other, I honestly don’t like to give up. So let me know… somewhere. Thanks.

Maybe cut them loose and just backup everything just so that, if YouTube ever does delete your channel, you can reload on BitChute or Odysee or Whomever works at that time.

Maybe nothing is optimal with how capricious these platforms are becoming without backing everything up yourself and reloading when the dust settles if one or more just explodes on you.

Nothing is easy that is for sure❗💌

    1. I have local backups of every video I ever made. I could upload them again if I had to, all except the Supercuts, which really, I can redo in a couple of minutes so it doesn’t matter.

      1. re: I’m just thinking of not uploading them to BitChute anymore.

Cost / benefit then.  If they are all backed up locally and ready to reload, maybe you don’t need BitChute aggravation. I know YouTube is serious aggravation too but it still kind of works and it is where the traffic is.  . . .YouTube some days dislikes everything; there are some words that seem automatically blocked -but at different times.  Petulant and Capricious❗ Sometimes even “safe content” gets blocked by YouTube. But, again, it still kind of works and it is where the traffic is.  Maybe give yourself the BitChute time back.

-I know YouTube drives many commenters just crazy and yet it seems YouTube just keeps loading on more comment restrictions/ filters. Apparently, you can say certain words in the YouTube video itself, which is great, but if we say them in the comments: delayed; blocked; et.al.

        1. I don’t know. I still have 2 months worth of content already on BitChute, so at least those will get done, no idea what else I want to do. It just seems like a complete waste of my time.

  2. no way! don’t give up imo of course cause you’re doing all the work so easy for me to say, but the harm religion causes without batting an effin eye is maddening, if ONE can be alerted to it by your awesome vids then eff yes ( not saying that’s your cause) just my opinion, tanx.
