Now I’ll be honest up front that I am not a big fan of the Friendly Atheist, just like I’m not a big fan of most atheists who routinely mix liberal politics with their atheism and he’s among the worst. This isn’t really about him specifically though, he’s just a convenient segue. However, he put out a video talking about Candace Cameron Bure and… yeah, we have to talk about it because it’s another clear case where the left entirely ignore all of the things that their side does wrong.
So here we go again.
First, here’s the video. Go ahead and watch it, he does make some decent points. I’ll be here when you get back.
You will notice that he, like so many on the left fringes, they love pointing out what the religious right is doing wrong, yet they completely miss when their own side does the exact same thing. I’ve shown this many, many times. Those who scream and cry about the January 6 stupidity while ignoring months-long terrorism by their own side, taking over major American cities and causing billions of dollars in damages.
They decry Republicans saying Biden isn’t their president while ignoring their own side spending years on end doing the same thing with Trump. Hell, the left are the ones that started Not My Presidents Day! The instant you point that out, they start to make excuses for why it’s not the same thing, but it is. They’ve just memory holed it all. It never happened if they can force themselves to forget. Let’s get back to the point of this post though.
He starts off explaining that Candace Cameron Bure walked away from The Hallmark Channel to a new pro-Christian cable channel where she’s going to be a director of programming of some sort. I’ll also be transparent here and say that I’ve seen all of her Aurora Teagarden films over on Hallmark, simply because my wife is a fan of cozy mysteries. It wasn’t just her that left, lots of people did and that essentially ended their cozy mystery movie block. He implies that she left because Hallmark was allowing gay people and, perhaps, non-white people into their movies and I have no clue how accurate that is. I’m not saying it’s not, I’m not saying it is, I really don’t care. You’d have to show where she stated that publicly and, at least to my knowledge, she hasn’t but I could certainly be wrong. In fact, she’s said some things about everyone being welcome, regardless of their religious, sexual, racial or whatever inclinations.
This is where we start to have problems though. Even if everything he implies about Bure is true, it’s his side of the aisle that’s been pushing anti-male, anti-white bullshit into movies and TV shows for a long time, promoting “diversity” simply for the sake of diversity, gender-swapping established characters, just because they can, because everything has to appeal to a far-left mindset these days, or else.
If you look at comic books these days, especially Marvel and DC, there are far more gay people than straight people and now, even established straight characters are going gay, just because they can. Instead of creating new, interesting characters that just so happen to be gay, they have to take the big names that have long histories and wow, suddenly, they’re all coming out of the closet. Tim Drake, Jonathan Kent, Bobby Drake, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, the list goes on and on and on. I mean, never mind that Harley has always been Joker’s girlfriend, nope… not anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care. Someone like Northstar, who has always been gay since his inception, even though it was never shown until years later, that’s fine. He’s a great character. I loved him in Alpha Flight from day one. I’m not against gay characters, I’m against established characters getting hijacked. How long until Batman comes out of the closet? I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.
So the left can apparently be critical of someone like Bure, which I’m fine with since I think her brother is a douchebag, but they can’t acknowledge that they’re doing essentially the same thing. “We can’t allow long-running things to stay the same, we have to change it all to reflect our view of the world!”
That’s bullshit.
