Over on Reddit, someone posted a Christian who got upset that they came to an atheist subreddit, violated the rules, preached mindlessly and got banned. We see that all the time.
Unfortunately, we see the same thing happening in reverse, atheists who go to religious subreddits, make complete asses of themselves, get banned (and rightfully so) and then whine about it. I pointed that out and it’s a shame to see how idiotic a lot of atheists can be.
A lot of people simply declared “that never happens”. I produced links to posts made by atheists, complaining that it did happen and… it still never happens, apparently. Why? Because it makes people sad to think that their side is just as guilty as the opposition.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
Sadly, this is nothing new and I’ve pointed it out many times before. The left, who screams about the “outrageous behavior” of the right, entirely ignores the exact same thing on their own side because it undermines their narrative. It happens with atheists, it happens with all kinds of groups, just because they want to see the world in a certain way that it actually isn’t.
In fact, we saw that twice on my own videos in the past week, where we watched Choose Jesus entirely misrepresent what I said in his response, only to be followed up with a lot of left-wing idiots in the comments who couldn’t handle the demonstrable fact that there are people who regret gender reassignment surgery. They’re trying so hard to get to their own side, even if their own side is wrong, that they’ll overlook all of the evidence to the contrary because they just don’t want it to be true.
Again, what the hell is wrong with these people?
They were saying “8% of gender reassignments isn’t that high!” but you can’t actually be sure of those numbers. I have a feeling they’re even higher. Now I’m not comparing these two things, let’s get that out of the way up front, but in the case of rape, we know that only a very small percentage of rapes ever get reported. We don’t know how many rapes actually occur. The same goes with domestic violence. Only a very small number actually go to the police. We know that the real number is higher, we just have no way of knowing how much higher. We also have no way of knowing exactly how many post-op gender reassignment patients actually regret their decisions. Keep in mind that I’m not trying to say that it’s a majority or anywhere remotely close, only that it absolutely happens. Those with a specific bias against admitting that it happens, they’ll make excuses for why it’s not as “bad” as the numbers seem to suggest, and keep in mind, I’ve got no horse in this race at all. I don’t care. I’m only beholden to the truth, not to any political, social or quasi-religious position. It is what it is. That’s all I care about.
I don’t know that a lot of people know how to handle that. They’re largely part of groups that holds positions, not based on emotion, not on demonstrable fact. Anyone who falls outside of their echo chamber, they scream and cry and act like children because they don’t know how to think rationally about these things. “Holy crap, someone disagrees! Get ’em!”
It’s just childish.
Personally, I don’t care if it’s 1% or 8% or 50%. Any are too many. My point was that, if we’re letting people do these things without any rational evaluation first, maybe we need to rethink things. Fee-fees don’t actually mean anything. I don’t care if you’re transgender, it’s no skin off my ass, I care if you’re rational. I don’t really care if the religious troll non-religious subreddits. That kind of thing has been going on forever. Just don’t pretend that your own side is innocent when demonstrably, it’s not. It’s the reality that matters, not your absurd feelings. Hypocrisy shouldn’t fly for either side, yet both sides make use of it and that’s ridiculous. The problem here is the inability to rationally and critically evaluate the reality and that’s very widespread. No side has a monopoly on stupidity. The only way to fix the dumb things that are happening is to acknowledge that the dumb things are happening in the first place and most people can’t.
Forever ago now, I was one of the chief moderators over on the Dalnet #atheist IRC channel. It was, at least at the time, one if, if not the largest channels on the platform. We routinely had theists showing up to cause problems and we had just as many atheists actively running off to Christian, Muslim and other theist channels, not to debate, not to rationally engage, just to piss them off. Being banned was a badge of honor. We tried, at least for a while, to police it because we wanted to be taken seriously, but assholes are going to be assholes and there’s nothing you can do to stop them. Today, apparently, they just deny that assholes, at least on their own side, even exist because the very thought makes them sad.
As always, I continue to weep for the future of the human species. This kind of mentality will lead to no positive end. It’s just a good thing that, at least I hope, I won’t be around to live in the coming dystopian shitstorm that we’re surely in for.
