So you know they’re making a new Red Sonja movie, right? It’s been in development hell for a very long time and at one point, Bryan Singer was supposed to direct, but that was a long time ago. Now, they’ve got their second female director involved, M.J. Bassett, who replaced Jill Soloway, who now wants to be non-binary, which this is Hollywood, why the hell not, but we’re seeing that this is going to be a complete disaster.

Why? Because they can’t just tell a Red Sonja story, they have to pander to a modern woke audience and those people don’t go and see movies!

This has been a problem in Hollywoke for a long time and it’s surprising that they’re too stupid to figure it out. Star Wars was a traditionally male-oriented property. Then, not only did they try to change that, they tried to make it a female-oriented property. “The Force is Female” and all that. So now, men don’t go and see it and women don’t either. Men don’t buy the action figures, which was a huge part of the success of Star Wars for decades and neither do women. The action figure market for Star Wars fell off a cliff. Now they just rot on the shelves.

Superhero movies are mostly a male-oriented thing. Men made the first bunch of Marvel movies successful. Then, Disney got wokeified and started trying to make superhero movies for women and guess what? It didn’t work! Even for movies like the first Captain Marvel, the paying audience was mostly male. The only reason it was successful was that they lied to people and implied that you had to see it in order to understand Endgame. That wasn’t true and that’s one reason why, after Endgame, attendance at Marvel movies started to fall off a cliff. More woke garbage and they were working hard to drive off the only paying customers that they had. Even for the dumpster fire that was The Marvels, the majority of the paying audience was still men. Why can’t they get this through their heads?

It’s why, in 2023, of the 14 movies that Disney put out, 13 of them were financial flops. Only one, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, came anywhere close to making its budget back, and we don’t even know actual numbers  because of Hollywood accounting. Disney lost more than a billion dollars in 2023 alone and 2024 isn’t looking good for them either.

It’s not like we haven’t told them what they’re doing wrong. People tell them exactly why their films are going to fail, yet Hollywood keeps doing it anyhow. When the new director of Red Sonja says she’s making a movie that avoids the male gaze, she just wants to tell a story about global warming, we’re going to tell her that she’s wasting her time and invariably, we’ll be right. Red Sonja is a character, both from literature and the comics, which has always drawn the male gaze. Welcome to reality. Nobody is going to see a Red Sonja movie about global warming This movie is going to fail,  yet nobody is going to change anything, are they? They’re going to hold fast, tell a terrible story without an audience and when it invariably fails, as we all know it will, they’re going to blame men for not going to see it.

Of course we didn’t see it, you told us it wasn’t for us! Men didn’t see it because it doesn’t appeal to us and women won’t see it because they have no interest either. At her core, Red Sonja is a big breasted woman in a chain-mail bikini, kicking ass and taking names. She doesn’t give a damn about global warming. You are wasting your time! If you want to make a movie about global warming, create your own characters. Don’t destroy what already exists, do something original!

Oh right, this is Hollywood where they can’t do anything original. They can only copy, reboot, reshoot and fail. When we tell you that your movie is going to fail, when we tell you why your movie is going to fail, you ought to pay attention because we’ve got a really good track record. We’ve been telling you that you’re making a mistake forever and we’re almost never wrong.

Yet they keep doing it, don’t they? Then they’re surprised when it flops. They’ve always got their excuses but none of it survives rational evaluation. The Marvels flopped in the theaters. Lots of people said “people will watch it on streaming!” Nope, when it got to streaming, it had the lowest watch-minute rating of any Marvel movie EVER! People won’t even watch it for free! It’s not that people are racists or sexists, you just made a crappy movie that didn’t appeal to anyone! Not that they care.

So, Red Sonja is already dead, if what the director says is true. If not, then I retract my prediction. I can only go by what I know but what’s been said is terrible and there is no audience for a movie like that. I haven’t seen what the reported budget for this thing is, but it’s money flushed down the toilet at this point. It’s not the fault of sexist men that this is going to fail, it’s the fault of a script that doesn’t respect the character. This is going to flop. I’m happy to admit I’m wrong if it doesn’t, but I don’t think I have anything to worry about.
