California announced that all fast food workers are getting forced raises to a new minimum wage of $20 an hour. Immediately, McDonalds and Chipolte announced massive price increases across the board in California and places like Pizza Hut immediately laid off all of their delivery drivers.
Who didn’t see this one coming? All the idiots in Sacramento without brains.
The liberal morons have no clue how basic economics works. Tons of “low income” workers, which are not remotely low-income, are now going to lose their jobs and the ones remaining, price increases across the board, driven by these insane moves, are going to eliminate any fiscal gains. It’s just going to make things worse for everyone.
What else is new?
This is how things work in a liberal wasteland, which is all California is. It’s just going to mean that fast food is no longer financially viable for a lot of people, meaning that companies are just going to be driven out of the state, or out of business, even faster. It’s been true for a while now that going to a sit-down restaurant is now cheaper than going through drive-thru. If we go out now, it’s to an actual restaurant.
One local independent fast food place was in the middle of a complete remodel when this crap started to hit. The building has been a shell for years now because they can’t afford to go back into business. Nobody is going to pay the prices they now have to charge for a cheeseburger. I won’t be surprised to see a lot of other restaurants going under too.
It’s just driving the state into bankruptcy, with far more people leaving than are coming in, because this crap isn’t sustainable. Not that Sacramento cares because it’s made up of fat-cat politicians who are only interested in pandering to their equally-rich big city constituents who all vote hard-core leftist. Meanwhile the majority of citizens in the state are going hungry because their jobs are vanishing in a puff of smoke.
We’ve known this for a very long time that this just doesn’t work. Every time it’s been tried, it’s failed. This is basic economics 101. You can’t raise costs in one sector without prices rising across the board. It doesn’t help the low-end workers because any benefits they get, they lose with the rising prices all around them. What is wrong with the politicians? They don’t care. It’s not about solving any actual problems, it’s about it looking like they tried at election time.
There are solutions, but nobody wants to do what it takes. We need to go back to the way that it used to be, with most fast food and other low-experience workers coming from high school and college students working part time. Those are the people who don’t need a lot of money because most of their expenses are being paid for by their parents. They are in school to learn how to make decent money and they can work part time to make some extra pocket money. It always worked before, it would work today if people weren’t so lazy.
Because that’s really the thing. People today are lazy. Kids don’t get a job until they graduate from college with a meaningless degree and a mountain of debt, where they have to get a good paying job, but nobody wants them. They didn’t learn a work ethic when they had the time to work cheap, which is where a solid work ethic comes from. Now, people expect a free ride until they have a piece of meaningless paper in their hands and have to get work now, instead of learning the ropes while the stakes were relatively low. Unless we’re willing to go back to that, I don’t see how we can possibly move forward. A massive number of people are going to be out of work and that’s going to crash the economy.
Thanks liberals. Fuck you all.

―💯%✔Absolutely. It disrupts critical price mechanisms so markets don’t clear; makes it more difficult for unskilled and younger individuals to find work; creates unemployment❗; forces employers to adjust all the other components of compensation, like health benefits; it fuels inflation❗; et.al.
It’s not like any of these people understand basic economics or much of anything else. They are just too wedded to identity politics and left-wing causes. The current attorney general or whatever of Los Angeles keeps overriding the courts and releasing hardened criminals because he doesn’t like the fact that we’re locking them up. This is incredibly common. Then those idiots get out and go out and rape and murder and steal because they know that there will be no real consequences in LA County.
I am so sick of the stupid stuff that happens in California, but I don’t really think anywhere else is much better.

Yeah, it is the same pretty much everywhere. No real consequences for radical identity politics, very sad.
And you wonder why I don’t want to vote in the next election? It’s either far-left stupidity or far-right stupidity. I’m sick of stupidity.
re: far-left stupidity✅ or far-right stupidity.✅
Yeah, it is bad not being able to feel good about who you vote for. National, religious and cultural tensions are made worse by the grandiose feeling that my nation, my religion and my culture are the most important in the universe. I don’t know how we can ever make nations, religions and cultures more realistic and modest about their true place in the universe. All I see is the process of creating especially unrealistic or improbable mental images in response to psychological needs. Far too much imagination that is not based on reality or logic. Just stories that are not verifiable or falsifiable by empirical evidence or rational analysis.
The world is getting worse, not better. Even if people are giving up religion, they are just replacing it with other irrational beliefs. I’m sick of it.
