I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but someone on Reddit posted, complaining that somehow, “male atheists were driving away female atheists” and it’s all the fault of men.

I pointed out that there simply aren’t as many female atheists as there are male. That started a shit show, even though it is demonstrably true, because these people are idiots.

What else is new?

All of the studies out there shows that there just are more male atheists. Pew Research and others have done studies that shows this conclusively to be true. It just is what it is. Why? I think it’s because women are more emotional, on average and religion victimizes the overly-emotional. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s not a bad thing, or even something that you can do anything about, but it seems a reasonable conclusion, again, based on actual, demonstrable evidence.

Of course, there are a lot of people, especially on the left, who think that everyone is identical all the time. You can change genders at a whim because everyone is exactly the same.

Except we’re not. There is a marked difference between male and female biology. Our brains are wired differently. In fact, that’s one way to identify gender dysphoria, by looking at how the brain is wired to see if it’s closer to male norms or female norms. It’s a simplistic way to describe it, but you can have a male brain in a female body and vice versa.

The left tends to hate that because it provides a real, demonstrable biological basis for gender dysphoria and they desperately want it to be something you can do on a whim, no evidence required. If you want to be male on Tuesdays and Thursdays and female the rest of the time, you can do that and everyone is expected to respect you for it.

That’s just not the way that reality works. Yet, since atheists, especially young atheists, tend to be overwhelmingly far left, it’s one of the subjects that you can’t expect them to be able to discuss rationally, because none of this is rational. It’s what they want to be true, just like the religious desperately want God to exist. That doesn’t make any of it so.

I probably shouldn’t be surprised, I’m just saddened by the fact that no matter where you look, people are stupid. It makes it very hard to have intelligent conversations because you have to constantly ask yourself “how dumb is this person and what topics do I have to avoid?” It’s a sad state of affairs that we live in a world where that’s the case, but unfortunately, we just had yet another example.
