I know I ask that question a lot, but it never seems to get any better! When did the entire human species become knuckle-dragging morons, especially modern young people?
Because I’m getting sick and tired of it.
This just happened and it’s just one example of many. Someone over on Reddit posted that they had a coin and they were curious if it was unique. That was it. It was a painted picture of Ty Cobb on the back of a U.S. state quarter. It took me seconds to type “ty cobb state quarter” into Google and come up with an answer.
No, it is not unique. I provided links from Amazon and eBay, I could have done more, that showed that these things were mass produced by a company, trying to make money off of collectors and sports fans. It’s incredibly common, there are tons of companies out there that do that.
I didn’t say anything bad about it, my entire response was “it’s not unique” along with all of the links provided to sales sites. Easy peasy, right? The guy who asked the question certainly seemed to think so.
Then some asshole comes along and says “why are you being so rude?” What’s rude about telling someone the truth and answering their question with facts? So this imbecile comes back and says “but they might have thought it was a family heirloom!”
First off, that’s stupid. They never said anything of the sort. They had a coin and a question, that’s it. Second, the coin is under 20 years old. That’s not an heirloom, it was some guy hoping to make a quick buck. I told them the truth. Third, how in the hell is being honest rude? I’ve heard this a lot from young people these days. Apparently, not coddling someone’s feelings, even what the respondent imagines the feelings might be, is somehow rude.
Well fuck you. Honesty is apparently now a bad thing for a lot of young people. If it gets in the way of your fee-fees, no matter how true it is, nobody is allowed to say it.
Too bad. Now keep in mind that this was a complete innocuous example. It was a moron reading into things something that was never there. It was never even suggested. It was “I’ve got a thing, is it valuable?” He got the truth. Now he knows. Granted, he could have done what I did and perform a 10 second Google search, but I was nice to him. I gave him the information he requested.
So what is wrong with these morons that keep thinking they get to be offended on someone else’s behalf? It’s not new. It’s just increasing.
I weep for the future of the species if this is the kind of person we have to rely in the future. We’re doomed.
