I know I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s just hysterical to watch it happen time and time again. The left has an infamously short memory and they simply forget when they do stupid things, while pointing out all of the stupid things done by the right.
These people just aren’t that bright!
What brought this to mind was an article that someone posted about a Christian Nationalist wanting to replace American democracy with Christian theocracy. Yes, that’s stupid, but how long ago was it when lots of idiots on the left wanted to get rid of democracy and impose communism or socialism?
Oh right, forgot all about that, right? Or, it’s just inconvenient and therefore, they’re going to pretend it never happened.
The same thing that happened when the left realized that some people on the right claimed that Biden wasn’t their president. Never mind that the left spent four years screaming that Trump wasn’t their president. Apparently that’s all been memory holed. They don’t like the idea that they’re all hypocrites. When the right claims Biden stole the election, that’s fine. When the left says Trump did the same thing, that never happened.
I think, on some level, they understand that it was dumb when their side did it, just like it’s dumb when the right does, but they know it makes them look bad so they selectively edit their memories so that nothing idiotic was ever done by the left. It never happened because they refuse to acknowledge it. That’s dumb though because we have videos and articles by leftist writers saying exactly that. The Internet never forgets. But bring that up to the hard left and they’ll freak out, calling you a liar (even if you have the evidence right there), trying to ruin you and stomping off in a huff because you’re not coddling their fee-fees.
These people have some serious maturity problems.
See, here’s the thing. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If you do something dumb, you deserve to be called out on it. I was having a conversation with one of my Patreon backers, where he said that there are lots of non-offensive Christians and it’s the lunatics we need to worry about. Nope, we need to deal with all of them. The liberal Christians provide cover for the fundamentalist crazies. A lot of them still allow their religious beliefs to control how they vote and how they treat other human beings. They’re not as immediately dangerous as the hardcore religious right but that doesn’t mean they’re harmless.
Delusion is never harmless.
That’s why we need to be just as vigilant against the ones that aren’t vocally looking for trouble because their theology inherently makes them dangerous. It’s not the same level of danger, but danger is still danger, whether it’s being in your face or not. Everyone has to be held accountable whether they like it or not, that goes for atheists, theists, people on the political left and right and everywhere in between. If your ideology has the potential to cause trouble, you need to be challenged to show why you ought to hold that position at all.
Most people can’t. So let’s stop pretending otherwise. Danger happens whether it’s immediately at the door or not. It happens whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Bad ideas are bad idea regardless and pointing at someone else doing something wrong doesn’t excuse your side when you did the same thing. Short attention spans don’t matter. Hypocrisy is something to be criticized no matter who it comes from.
So let’s stop playing these stupid games, alright?
re: Delusion is never harmless.✔ Belief and delusion are incestuous siblings. People say no one is happy without a delusion of some kind. Delusions are as necessary to our happiness as realities. . . .BUT. . .
re: Everyone has to be held accountable✔ If your ideology has the potential to cause trouble, you need to be challenged to show why you ought to hold that position at all.✔
Delusion has its roots in pathology. False belief, held with absolute conviction, despite superior evidence. We see that A LOT. Delusion is a sign you are not functioning.
It’s pretty difficult to have a serious debate with someone who thinks an all-powerful sky dad is on their side. . . .We’re a species that isn’t great at truth. We’re built to believe convenient delusions, not to be accurate.
But there are a lot of people who just don’t care. So much of this is just making up stories that you wish was true, without it actually being true. It’s not just limited to religion, it’s a ton of people out there, on all ends of the spectrum, because reality is just too difficult for them to bear.
Heck, I’m having a conversation right now with someone who published a really terrible book on Amazon and now she’s screaming and crying because “life isn’t fair!” Well who the hell ever said that it was? Your book is shit. I looked at it. Terrible cover, filled with spelling and grammatical errors, the small part that I looked at was barely even coherent. Of course it failed! You are not ready! It honestly reads like it was written by a 6-year old who has barely started ESL classes. It’s objectively terrible. That’s just the truth.
Yet you’re not allowed to tell people the truth anymore. It just might hurt their feelings! Nobody, especially the young, seem capable of justifying anything that they believe anymore. In another unrelated discussion on TV shows and movies, the young have no clue why they like a show. They can’t describe what they like in any coherent way. They just do! Well how do you have an intelligent conversation with anyone who “just does”? That’s not a rational position because these are not rational people.
It’s no wonder the planet is such a mess today.
re: reality is just too difficult for them to bear.✔️ Oh, -so true. People often cannot endure their own littleness unless they can translate it into meaningfulness on the largest possible level.
re: filled with spelling and grammatical errors✔️ Hellfire and Brimstone, it sounds like something I would write. . . .ha, ha, ha, ha.

re: Nobody, especially the young, seem capable of justifying anything that they believe anymore. . . .I don’t think they ever could. Thinking is hard work.

For many people, the real world is simply too terrible to admit. It tells people they are a small trembling animal who will someday decay and die. In fact, “the future” is where you go to die. Religion/Culture “changes” all of that, makes people seem important, vital to the universe, immortal in some ways.✔️ It’s not right, but I can see why people do it.
