Horror Show Monday: Easter Bombing

Hey, what’s the religion of peace been up to lately?  Oh yeah, murdering lots of people!  This time out, the Taliban launched a deadly attack on Easter Sunday near Islamabad, Pakistan when a suicide bomber, intentionally targeting Christians, erupted, killing 69 people and injuring more than 340 others.

But yeah, Islam doesn’t hurt anyone.

Pakistani Christians, who make up about 2% of the population, were in the city’s Gulshan Iqbal Park to celebrate Easter when the attack took place.  According to an eyewitness, Danish, “It was so crowded that there was even no way of entering it. We went to a canteen to have something to eat, when there was suddenly a big blast. Everyone panicked, running to all directions. Many of them were blocked at the gate of the park. Dead bodies can be found everywhere.”  His sister was injured in the attack.

Of course, the local Taliban group is not only not sorry, they swear to keep their terrorism parade going.  Ehsanullah Ehsan, spokesman for the splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban known as Jamat-ul-Ahrar promised that the attacks would continue until the strict interpretation of Sharia Law that they demand is adopted.

This is not, of course, the first time that violence targeting the Pakistani Christian community has happened.  Last year, a suicide bomber killed 14 people and injured dozens more and in 2013, suicide bombers went after a church in Peshawar that killed 80 people.

Because Islam is so peaceful and all.  Tell me a new one.  These are clearly religious attacks, brought on by specific religious interpretations of the Qur’an, but you rarely hear anyone, particularly on the left, criticize them because they’re not allowed to speak ill of Islam.  Well why the hell not?  This is Islam to blame.  There’s no way to spin this as a political attack gone wrong.  This is one group of religious zealots trying to kill another.  That’s why they repeatedly end up on Horror Show Monday.
