Horror Show Sunday: Sexual Abuse Cover-Up

Are there any of these holy-roller anti-woman fundamentalist assholes who don’t eventually get accused of sexual abuse? This time out, Bill Gothard, founder of Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), has been accused by ten women of rape, sexual abuse and covering it all up.

Gothard’s Christian homeschooling principles have been adopted by many religious families, including the Duggars, who attended his Advanced Training Institute to learn how to properly educate their children in the Chrsitian way.

One unnamed woman went to Gothard, claiming that she had been sexually abused by her father.  When the father was questioned, he said she was being punished for disobeying and Gothard ordered the woman to obey her father, even if she was being abused.  Then, according to sources, Gothard and another counselor at the IBLP training center forced the woman to have sex without her consent.

Gothard was forced out of his leadership position by more than 30 women who came forward claiming sexual abuse and molestation of co-workers.  Gothard, of course, denies it.  “Oh no. Never never. Oh! That’s horrible,” he said. “Never in my life have I touched a girl sexually. I’m shocked to even hear that.”  So here’s a guy who has never gotten laid in his 81 years and he’s going to tell people how to educate their children.  Sure, tell me another one.  He also says that, “God is my witness that I have never kissed a girl, nor touched any young lady in a sensual way.”  Let’s see you get your supposed witness into court, pal.

But on later introspection, Gothard admits that he “was very wrong in holding hands, giving hugs, and touching [the] hair and feet” of the women he employed at the IBLP.  He says he will “pray sincerely that God will bring healing to each individual that I have so grievously damaged.”  So he has no grip on reality.  This is made clearer when he concluded his affidavit by saying “after following Matthew 18:15–17, any unresolved claims between the plaintiffs, the IBLP board, and me should be submitted to binding Christian mediation and resolution.”  He also wants to be reinstated to his previous position as head of the Institute.  But it’s likely that the Institute won’t be around much longer anyhow, it has run in the red for the last four years, losing more than $15 million dollars.

So another sexual deviant down, how many more to go?  There is a never ending supply of religious perverts that use their religious views to wind up on Horror Show Sunday.

  1. I said a long time ago that the Catholic boy sex scandal is just the tip of the sexual abuse within organized faiths. When will people learn; when you join a cult/ any religion all CULTS by definition. That is to be expected?
