Blackface for Halloween

This might seem a bit late, being somewhat about Halloween, but it’s actually more about hypocrisy that we see on the left all the time.  Chairman of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, Terry Rambler has been very vocal in demanding that the Washington Redskins change their name because he sees it as racist.  However, he only seems to see racism as it relates to Native Americans, he doesn’t seem to think about it much when it comes to supposed racism toward other groups.  How do we know? Because Terry Rambler went to a party for Halloween dressed as Bob Marley, complete with blackface.  Apparently, it never even occurred to him until it was pointed out after the fact.

Of course, he apologized, but the fact that he did it in the first place shows that he isn’t as “politically correct” as these people tend to pretend they are.  This is something that I see all the time on the left though, the social justice idiots who are screaming about racism, but who are really only concerned with “racism” toward certain groups, they entirely ignore it toward others. This is particularly true when it comes to white people, who the left are entirely fine with attacking, they overlook any racist comments made toward white people, as though they deserve it, but when it comes to someone of another skin color, they freak the fuck out.

Now personally, I don’t think this is a big deal.  I don’t think that anyone has a right not to be offended by anything, for any reason.  If someone insults your race, your gender, your sexual orientation, your height, your eye color, you name it, too bad for you.  It is up to you what you choose to be offended over and I couldn’t care less, on a personal level, what Rambler chose to dress up as.  Halloween is about having fun.  It is not about being a representative of some group you’re dressing up as.  It gets ridiculous, I’ve seen Wiccans whining that kids dressing up as witches is somehow insulting to them.  Heck, I saw someone arguing online that anyone dressing up as a vampire is being purposely insulting to people in the “vampire lifestyle“.  What’s next?  Claiming that zombies are insulting to the walking dead?  Seriously?

I think these people need to take a serious step back and look at reality, rather than the bizarre little fantasy they clearly have going on in their heads.  The Washington Redskins isn’t insulting to Native Americans.  If you think it is, grow up.  People dressing up as Count Dracula is not offensive to people with weird sexual kinks.  If you’re offended, fuck off.  Stop searching for insult in things that are not intended that way.  At the very least, stop pretending that you get to control the narrative and only pay attention to your own little group, if you’re going to insist that nobody offends you, the least you can do is not offend others. But the left doesn’t really understand that, do they?

You need to grow up. You are not the arbiter of what is insulting to anyone except yourself. Your beliefs and attitudes are not the standard by which everyone else is required to live their lives. Stop acting as though they are.
