Horror Show Friday: Wife Slaughtering

boko haram kill
Bodies of former Boko Haram “wives” laid out in a mass grave.

We’ve all heard stories of Boko Haram, that group of fun-loving Muslim terrorists in Nigeria that has kidnapped schoolgirls, tortured heretics and carved a bloody swath across several African nations.  Well, they’re at it again but now, it gets even worse. See, they decided to abduct women out of north-east Nigeria and “marry” them.  Yes, that’s code for raping them while making nice with their ridiculous religious beliefs.  In fact, I did a story a while back about Muslims in India renting “weekend wives” on business trips so they could have illicit sex, but not actually violate the letter of their religious laws.

So what’s worse about this?  On the way out of these small towns, the Boko Haram fighters decided that a quick divorce, in the form of murdering their former “wives” in cold blood, was called for.  I guess divorce is a sin but murder isn’t.  Their reasoning? Once they left, and clearly they were never coming back, but they assumed their “wives” would remarry local infidels and that’s something they just can’t accept, therefore, better off dead than a sinner.

According to Salma Mahmud, an eyewitness, the Muslim terrorists said “if they kill their wives, they would remain pious until both of them meet again in heaven, where they would re-unite.”  The fighters were told by their commander that ” it would be better for them to kill their wives and send them to heaven.”

I’m sure nobody asked their wives their opinion on the matter.

Interestingly, some of the Boko Haram fighters refused the order and fled with their wives to neighboring villages in Yobe state. I guess there is some measure of humanity in a small percentage of them after all.  Too bad the same can’t be said of Boko Haram overall, they have killed more than 13,000 people in Nigeria since 2009, all in the name of Islam.  Who says religion doesn’t hurt anyone?  Apparently nobody who reads Horror Show Friday.
