Horror Show Sunday: Better off in Heaven

A Kansas mother, Lindsey Blansett, is charged with first degree murder after she killed her 10-year old son, saying he’d be better off in heaven.  According to police in Wellington, Kansas, the boy’s 9-year old sister was home at the time of the attack but was apparently unharmed.  Blansett took a rock and a knife into the boy’s bedroom after he had gone to sleep, believing “his life would be full of suffering and pain and that it would be better for him to go to heaven than to face the world’s problems.”

Neighbor Shae Hutton said “She was a nice lady. She didn’t seem like she was capable of killing her own son.”  Yeah, because the crazy ones always seem so normal!

Blansett was sent for a psychiatric evaluation and, according to defense attorney Mike Brown, he believed “that the Defendant may not be able to understand the nature and purpose of these proceedings.”  Seriously, she’s delusional enough to try to send her son to “heaven”, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have a firm grasp on reality in any way, shape or form.  Of course, I don’t think that ought to excuse her, she shouldn’t get off if she’s found to be crazy  because she still murdered someone in cold blood. I think that ought to put her on the fast track to the gas chamber to get her craziness out of the gene pool.  But hey, what do I know, right?

I’d really make a different call though.  The 911 tapes have been released and Blansett is heard saying “I’m never going to get out of jail. Never.”  That indicates she not only knew what she did was wrong but she had an understanding of the consequences of her actions.  Crazy my ass, put this delusional religious bitch down.

I don’t know how many times I have to cover the same crazy religious stories before someone gets it through their head that there’s something wrong with these people.  Religion gives them a path to carry out their craziness.  Without religion, they couldn’t pursue this path.  I blame religion every bit as much as their insanity.  Religion is an enabler for violence, so says Horror Show Sunday.
