I have no feelings for Representative Joe Walsh, in fact, I have no feelings for his politics or anything else. He has zero impact on my life, he’s part of the Illinois political machine and therefore, I just don’t care what he says or what he stands for directly. That said though, this popped up in a recent discussion, where liberals started whining about how racist this is. It’s not only not racist, I almost agree with him.
In something he posted to his own website, he said that, in honor of the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s famous “I have a dream” speech, he had some dreams of his own. They included:
I have a dream that all black parents will have the right to choose where their kids attend school.
I have a dream that all black boys and girls will grow up with a father.
I have a dream that young black men will stop shooting other young black men.
I have a dream that all young black men will say “no” to gangs and to drugs.
I have a dream that all black young people will graduate from high school.
I have a dream that young black men won’t become fathers until after they’re married and they have a job.
I have a dream that young unmarried black women will say “no” to young black men who want to have sex.
I have a dream that today’s black leadership will quit blaming racism and “the system” for what ails black America.
I have a dream that black America will take responsibility for improving their own lives.
I have a dream that one day black America will cease their dependency on the government plantation, which has enslaved them to lives of poverty, and instead depend on themselves, their families, their churches, and their communities.
I said that I thought all of those were good ideas, although if I had to make a correction, I’d edit “black” out of the entire piece. I don’t think this is a problem just in the black community, but in every community. I don’t think these are good ideas just for black Americans, but for all Americans.
Of course, because he did mention blacks and, of course, because Walsh is white, lots of liberals are whining about what a racist he is. Clearly, no white man can have any legitimate opinion on what goes on in the black community, but as I’ve said before, they don’t want black men having opinions either. The second anyone dares to speak out against what happens in the black community, they get called race traitors (if black) or racists (if white), nobody bothers to ask themselves if they have a point.
Well, they do. It’s undeniable that they do. I can even see why people would want to focus on the problems in the black community because the black community is so much worse off than any other community in the nation. That doesn’t stop the liberals from whining about it and throwing racism around like it’s a Frisbee. Oh no, 25% of white children grow up in a single-parent household! 14% of Hispanic children don’t graduate from high school! Only 25% of white teenagers use the most effective birth control methods! 86% of white murders are performed by whites. Don’t focus on blacks!
Unfortunately, when we look at the reality, we find that 78% of black children grow up in a single-parent household, in poor communities, more than 50% of black kids fail to graduate from high school and only 14% of black teenagers use the most effective forms of birth control. 94% of black murders are performed by blacks. In just about every metric, the problems in the black community are much, much worse across the board than in any other racial community. Why shouldn’t we focus on the demonstrably worse problems first?
That’s not to say we shouldn’t pay attention to the problems across the board, we certainly should, but there is only so much time, money and manpower available to solve any particular issue at any particular time. Is it not logical, therefore, to attack the biggest problem first? That’s not being racist, that’s being efficient and I would argue that efficiency is a good thing.
So why are liberals so dead set against actually helping to fix the problems in the black community? Because they benefit by keeping them poor and dependent on the government so they will keep voting to keep the Democrats in power. While I’m sure some of the liberal footsoldiers are convinced they’re doing the right thing, the majority don’t buy into any of this racism crap because it’s just not defensible. It’s emotional pablum, just like most things that liberals tout. It’s easier to toss around feelings than to get down to the nuts and bolts of an issue and work on real-world solutions. That’s a problem for a huge number of people.
It’s about damn time we get rid of this politically correct crap and actually worry about looking at the issues rationally and dealing with them intellectually. If there are problems in the black community or the white community or the Hispanic community or the Asian community or the Eskimo community or any other community you can come up with, let’s take the worst problems, fix them and then move on to the next group. We cannot correct issues in this country if we’re afraid to even acknowledge they exist. It makes no more sense to scream “racism!” than it does to scream “misogynist!”, that’s just avoiding the issues and that’s going to lead to still more liberal failures.
I guess they just like to fail.
