Return of the Sucker Brigade

Sugar Cookie First DayYes, we went and did it again, although this time we have an excuse.  Last night, my youngest daughter went to Market Night, the local weekly farmer’s market with her friends and while there, she came across this young kitten.  When she was ready to be picked up, she told me about it and didn’t know what to do.  He’s between 4-5 weeks old and healthy.  He clearly was not a home-bred kitten that was brought by someone and dumped at Market Night, he was dirty and had a couple of fleas so it looks like a feral kitten, but we couldn’t see where his mother might have been and since some of my daughter’s friends had been carrying him around for a while before they foisted him off on her, she didn’t even know where to look.  She was going to give him to the local animal rescue people who are always trying to adopt out animals there, but honestly, for a kitten that young, I don’t know how well it would go, they always complain they have too many cats and they can’t even adopt him out until he was at least 8 weeks old.  My daughter’s friends started calling him Cookie, and we officially named him Sugar Cookie.

So home he came, he got cleaned up and luckily for us, he’s already weaned and eats like a pig.  So far, it doesn’t look like he’s litter box trained, but that’s usually pretty easy, especially since there are other cats in the house to help him.  He’s a little hard to take a good picture of, kittens aren’t well known for keeping still, but you get an idea of him sitting on my desk.  He spent his first day hissing at everyone and hiding, the second day has been better and he’s got the other cats in the house more freaked out than he is of them.

We didn’t plan on it, but hey… 6 cats.  Why not?
