I always find it amazing how much religious leaders think they can get away with and disgusting how much they actually manage to get away with. Case in point, we have youth pastor Jeff Frodermann, 28, out of Sebeka United Methodist Church in Minnesota, who got himself into a load of trouble having “sexual contact” with a 13-year old girl. Now what does “sexual contact” mean, you might ask? After all, in recent years, parents having pictures of their own kids in the bathtub has gotten them “sex offender” status in some states, but no, our boy Jeff was off boffing a barely-teen cutie.
Aside from the obvious, what’s bad about it is that he’s getting off with a ridiculously light sentence. He gets pinched as a child molester, he abused a position of trust and authority and he’s getting a mere 6 months in jail, plus another 6 months of house arrest through a plea deal. Sure, he has to register as a sex offender and he lost his kooshy God-pusher position, but come on, 6 months? Even in the tiny town of Sebeka, population 710, people are asking questions. Quentin Ness, who lives across the street from the church and has three daughters of his own, does not believe the punishment was harsh enough and I agree with him. Are we sure we’re getting the whole story or is there more to it?
Perhaps in time more will come to light. After all, it’s very rare when a molester stops at a single victim. Like M&Ms, you can’t have just one. I would not be at all surprised to find more going on under the surface of this small community, would you?
Mr. Frodermann, please take a walk to the Religious Horror Show with the rest of your religious pedophile brethren. I don’t think anyone would particularly mind if you tripped on the way, perhaps onto a large collection of broken glass and rusty nails. Think if we pray hard enough, God might make that happen for us? We can only hope.

I find it a big hard to believe that someone would plead guilty to a sex offense charge unless the prosecution had a good deal of evidence that you were guilty. Remember, these people are innocent until proven guilty, no defense attorney worth their salt is going to tell their client to go for a plea deal unless they know the prosecution has them dead to rights.
Actually, being a registered sex offender is not a light punishment. You are severely restricted on day-to-day activities and will forever have a stigma that keeps you from getting a job, or anything. I have no idea if Jeff was involved or simply took a plea because he had no way to prove innocence, but I find it hard to believe he was since I knew him once upon a time. (That was, however, once upon a time, and people change.) Anyways, there are always two sides to a story and there is a (remote?) chance that the girl is a liar. It has happened before in previous cases, and thus not everyone given the pedophile label is a sex offender.
