Tennessee Republican State Senator Paul Stanley has a problem. The staunch conservative Republican, married father of two, very religious member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he serves as a Sunday school teacher and board member of their day school and outspoken abstinence supporter… got caught with his hands in the cookie jar.
Or his 22-year old intern.
Stanley has been very active in the moral-pushing business lately, he recently sponsored a bill that would make it illegal for gay couples to adopt and when asked by a Planned Parenthood official for his help getting family planning services for Memphis teens, he responded that he “didn’t believe young people should have sex before marriage anyway, that his faith and church are important to him, and he wants to promote abstinence.”
But now, Senator Stanley has admitted in a sworn affidavit that he’s been having an affair with a 22-year old intern. According to the statement, he’s been having a “sexual relationship” with a 22-year-old female intern working in his office, and to taking nude pictures of her in “provocative poses” in his apartment.
Now this really shouldn’t come as a surprise, how many of these holy-roller moralists have fallen in recent years as it’s been discovered that they say one thing and do something else.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Stanley has been in trouble or had the taint of impropriety. His first wife charged him with assault before their divorce in 1995 and he still works for the troubled Stanford Financial Group, whose president, Allen Stanford, has been charged for running a financial scam that netted an estimated $8 billion.
Of course, we’ll see him do what every one of these religious fucktards ends up doing, crying for forgiveness, saying the devil made him do it, promising to redouble his efforts to fight the evils in the world and then, when the furor dies down, he’ll go back to banging another intern.
Isn’t it funny that the most outwardly moral and pius are always the most “immoral” once you sweep away the false exterior? And the religious have no problem forgiving these people over and over again because the religious are gullible enough to believe in asking for forgiveness, rather than taking responsibility for one’s actions.
No wonder the Republican party is so screwed up.
